That is what I use on my Bourbon Strands and it works well for me.

Thanks

Not 100% finalized but my promontory point MTO is actually going to be in brown chromexcel instead of the Navy suede. I'm planning on wearing it in all weathers with jeans so navy is out.

Anyway my proposed makeup:
*brown chromexcel upper
*dark brown suede back and tongue
*natural split welt
*natural midsole
*dainite sole
*tone on tone stitching
*blue lining

Allison is going to see if there are more lining colors

Allison also said that her department is down 2 people for the month so she's pretty backed up on emails if any of you guys are waiting on responses. I had to call her after 4 days or so.

They look pretty good to me as is although they look like they could use a little edge dressing.  Even the insoles look good, like they haven't been worn a lot.  They are a little rippled--but I like that broken in look.

Sorry, I'm still new to the world of higher end shoes. What do you mean by "little edge dressing"? I'll take pictures once they come in, but would you recommend me sending them off to AE for the full works or can I still wear them for a bit?

It is used on the edges of the sole to keep them looking great.

The edge dressing that bkotsko mentioned could improve the looks of the shoes from what I could tell from the pictures.  The edges of the soles especially in the toe area looks a little scuffed.  From what I see in the pictures, they look good to wear if they fit well.  Recrafting could wait if you ask me.  Something that looks kind of funny to me is that from the top view the insoles look brand new but the shoes uppers have a well broken in look.  But they are nice looking shoes--sounds like you got a good price.  Once you get your feet into them and the laces snugged up, I'll bet they will look just fine.

If I push my foot all the way to the front of the shoe, is my shoe too loose if there is about one finger separation in the back?

It all comes down to your preference and what you feel comfortable with (and how fat your fingers are), but I would say probably.

Not necesasarily. The primary consideration in the length of your shoe is whether it fits right at the ball/widest part of your foot. If you have a long heel-to-toe measurement and relatively short toes you may be able to get more than a finger in behind your heel on shoes that fit you correctly. You don't want too much room in the front (which can result in creasing across the toe box), but my mom's "where's your big toe" method of fitting doesn't work for dress shoes.

Walnut Shell Cordovan Strands that I wore yesterday (forgot to bring home camera). Probably my favorite of all my shoes.

Not surprised that those are your favorites - if I had them they might be mine too!

Thank you. Yeah, they are pretty hard to compete with.

Thank you. I love the depth of color in the Shell Cordovan on the Strand. I have the Walnut Shell Dalton as well, but I do not feel like I get the same depth out of them due to the larger pieces of leather. However, they also don't have 2 years of wear and patina on them, so they aren't in the same place maturity wise either.
