Seconded - perhaps more Louisianans will up their game when they see yours.  There's a reason why the Strands are the second most popular shoe that AE sells, and why walnut is the most popular Strand.  Glad you had a good experience with Gerald and I know you'll enjoy those shoes!

Thanks! Now to get a couple pair of new pants so I can match them well with the shoes.. and then I can pickup my brown/black pair..

I know people go back and forth on getting a darker brown or a black for their formal shoe.. Since I'm just building up, should I go with a pair of Brown burnished Kennilworth or should I just keep with the popular PA in black?  I'm leaning more toward a dark brown..

Probably going to pick my formal pair up via the Shoebank -- just got an updated list last night.

I'd go black for the PA's, but if you want a formal brown shoe, I'd go for the Fifth Ave over the Kenilworth. Since you're building up, i'd say the Kenilworth would be pretty versatile and could be worn with suits if needed as well as chinos and denim.

If you don't need a 100% formal shoe at the moment, stick with the Kenilworth.

for what it is worth, pretty much any question you could possibly have about AE has been covered time and time again on this board. Lucky for you and I, these knowledgeable gents are more than willing to rehash what has already been stated in an effort to help a fellow AE enthusiast out.

I currently have a pair of Daltons. Now looking at Strand/Mcallister. Is the rule of thumb to go up a size or down a size?

Thanks for your help.

I wear 10D in both the Dalton and Strand.

Note though that as the former is a blucher and the latter an Oxford it may just be what works best for me.

Ha. Believe me, if I could magically make these smaller, I would. Would probably make them much easier to sell too.

I may actually be able to squeeze into a wider US12, unlike what my past purchases would suggest. I'm actually a 12EE, but this size is pretty much impossible to get from any manufacturer. I have one pair of 12EEE cambridges, but these are wide in the heel. My recent purchases have been 12.5E 's. The larger sizes I've purchased have pretty much always been due to a necessity of extra width for me.

Those look great, love em!

Any way you can post a profile view? I want to see how much the mini lugs are exposed from the side.

Thanks

Perfect! Doesnt look like they are exposed too much, not much more than the standard tap sole they use.

Thanks for the images.

I also found out that they now sell Saphir products.

FYI........

I spoke to Mark Morton at the store this morning and he will honor the 50% off starting today! The discount is for all AE in stock. He sent me a list of my size but no styles/colors that I am interested in.

Happy hunting!
