Stopped by mall today to try on strands at nordstroms and they only had 8D in stock but figured I'd give it a try. Probably had like inch extra in front but D width is definitely a no go, felt feet bulging from the sides. Ordered 7E and 7.5E from BB so I'll see if either of those fit. If it helps, I measured 6.5E on AE's size chart.

Heh... I guess it is. The Players was on the 222 last. I guess I always think of the Players in suede, so my mind didn't make the connection. I agree that they have a much different "feel"

I ordered a pair of black Park Avenues as a test and they were virtually perfect (I found no defect, but I am no cobbler). For the after XMas sale they had $50 off the first pair and $100 off the second, so I got a pair of walnut 5th Aves the bourborn Mora 2.0s. I could not be happier. I really appreciate everyone helping those of us who are just learning the ropes.

I'm looking into get my first pair as well. How did you order the 2nds?

I emailed ShoeBank@allenedmonds.com with my size, they replied with all of the shoes they have available in that size and the price. Then I called them with my CC# and address. They say you can email them with that stuff, but I didnt want to take any chances. Took less than 10 minutes overall.

They normally e-mail you if you've ordered from them in the past, although you can probably call one of the outlets and ask to be added.

They will e-mail you the inventory list, although I wouldn't try ordering via e-mail. I tried that over the weekend and had comically bad customer service.

The different feel can likely be attributed to color and AE photo "magic".

They should just bring it back as the Player's Shoe, it was one their best looking and fills a gap in their lineup.

Any of you guys have experience with AE's Sport Coats?  They're cutting prices and getting tempting.

Saw this in person and I don't know when or how I'd wear it but it is soooo purdy with the ghost plaid kind of look.

I'd probably look into who makes them before I consider purchasing.

Again I find myself in need of collective knowledge of the AE SF members. Based on the research Ive done on previous posts, the available edge dressing are the following (arranged from lightest to darkest)

Tan ink > Natural > Light brown transparent/Toasted > Brown transparent > Black

Did I miss anything? Is there any color between brown transparent and black?

Also, is the chili welt lighter or darker than the brown welt?

Thanks!

Here are some additional photos of the Cappuccino Rutledge's that came in last week. I think I've decided that they are indeed too long and wanted to post some photos before I sold them off.

Fiesta:  you always have great shoes for sale, but in the wrong size.  11UK and U.S. 12 for now on, okay?

Hi guys, sorry if this has been covered before, but can someone explain to me the process of doing a custom order? What can I change, and how much does it cost? I searched through the thread but had trouble finding answers.

I bought the brown tweed sportcoat back during the RA sale.  I am a 41R and prefer a tailored fit, and the M fit me perfectly off-the-rack (even the sleeves).  I thought it was a handsome coat and a worthy addition to my wardrobe.  However, just last week I decided I'd rather have more shoes, so I returned it.

I agree that for the current sale price it's a very good buy, especially for a Made in the USA piece.  I think you should go for it!

The Reddit AMA with Paul Grangaard was mentioned a few posts back, and I tracked it down and provided the link.  In re-reading it, I noted that according to Paul, sartorially the two things women first notice about guys are their shoes and their watches.  Seems pretty reasonable to me.  Anyhow, I think I'm pretty good on the former but I need some work on the latter - I've been wearing cheap Timexes that get the job done but now it's time for an upgrade.  Does anyone have experience with the AE watches and/or have opinions about their value?  The price point is good for me and a couple of them are quite handsome.  Thanks in advance!

You can never go wrong with walnut Strands, though you really should get a more "formal" shoe next (either black or burgundy). Also, I don't think it would be best aesthetically to wear those with jeans as light as the ones you are sporting in that picture. A slim cut, indigo denim would be a better choice.

Congrats on your first purchase and for helping to make the footwear in Baton Rouge a little nicer.

Seconded - perhaps more Louisianans will up their game when they see yours.  There's a reason why the Strands are the second most popular shoe that AE sells, and why walnut is the most popular Strand.  Glad you had a good experience with Gerald and I know you'll enjoy those shoes!
