Conensus seems to be to go down in length, and in most times up in width. However, the shell models may fit looser than calf. I doubt it's a size width's bigger though, so I think I'll go 8.5E (TTS 9D)

I suggest trying on a calf version and going with that size. We have approximately the same size foot, so I agree you will likely end up with 8.5 D/E.

I have read that some handmade shoes do not. If you don't expect the leather to stretch and there is no cork then by all means go ahead and buy them if they fit well with the quarters completely closed.

Who said that the quarters should close completely when new?  I know I had said the exact opposite:

I think that's too much.  An oxford shouldn't close fully when brand new, but splayed open an inch is not ideal, IMO.

MWS always provides great advice, I'll certainly send mine in sooner having read that.

^ for the shell PA's concern, FWIW I haven't found the shell vs calf fit to be so different that it warrants a size change when going from one to another...

Thanks guys!

I own several pairs of Aldens but these will be my first AEs. I know how odd sizing can be, but I'm not going to wait months for Alden when AE is offering a brown shell option.

Seconds from the Shoe Bank?

So, it seems that there are no Long Branch seconds in my size.  I ended up biting the bullet and ordering from the website.  I figure, I saved $100 on the Kenilworths I ordered locally, full retail for a boot I really want might just be worth it.  Can't wait until both pair come in!

Factory seconds for the strand is $269. Should I wait for a sale on them? Or just bite the bullet?

Just be warned Goose, AE's finishing really doesnt compare to Aldens (at least in my opinion)

No worries my man.

I know you guys in here might be a little biased but I am looking for a suede shoe and I hear the Neumok is on for $149 during the factory second sale so I might see if they have a pair in my size. The problem is that I already have a couple of wingtips including both the Dalton and McAllister, should I hold out and MTO something in a PTB in suede or maybe get the Alden PTB?

Here is my collection of shoes, help guide my next shoe purchase... (not shown: BB Park Ave in Dark Brown, just bought from a member here)
