In his defense, he was contrite afterwards and bought me a round of brews and a bottle of edge dressing.

...still can't scratch my back with my left arm, though.

ridethecliche, good point.  I spent a nice bit of time last night mashing the pinking down, only to have sections pop back up; even after that small experiment, the right cap pinking appears 'rough', and the difference in the two is more than annoying - one long pinked edge and one short one.  The sales person in the store begrudgingly accepted my request for a new shoe (had to order - more days of waiting ahead), that i'll swap out once it arrives... It's why i'd rather walk into a store, try on and pick a shoe I like than order online and hope for the best. I'm more than okay with variations in the construction of a pair of AE's, but this shoe lacks aesthetic symmetry - and it leaves me wanting another pair.

Anyone find an insole that works well with the 5 last? I'm looking to improve the fit of my Park Avenues. I know I can trim insoles, but in case anyone's tried something that worked well already... I'm leaning towards the Tacco sole at the moment.

Got the good phone call from Allison yesterday!  Got back to the office this afternoon and shoe giggidy!!

The color (Brown Shell Cordovan) is a little flat out of the box but I'm hoping with some TLC these will be a great addition to my collection.

They are the "Players" Model.  Independence lining and insole and outsole.  Brown flat welt with wheeled edges. Transparent Brown edge dressing.

I'll try to get some better pics (fluorescent at work kinda crappy)

I'm glad I pulled a last minute change and went up a width based on how narrow I heard these can be.

They look awesome! Congrats, I think I made a mistake in not getting this make up.

I do have you to thank for a few tips for them.  Good thing is that you always can order them in the future.  :fonz:

Why'd it take so long? I ordered mine about a month and a half ago and got them only 2 days later. They are great-looking shoes.

Assume those are cappuccino?

They were loose in the heel. I think tying the laces tighter or breaking in the cork pad would solve that issue.

I think.

Gosh, I have like 5 pairs of brown boots and a pair of tims. I would wear boots all the time if it was acceptable!

Because of the stitching and wingtip area, the leather is thicker in some areas than others. The area right under the wingtip ends up being a stress point since it has the least give in the area. This is where most wingtips flex and crease. Enjoy the shoes.

I'm currently wearing some saddle shoes with way worse creasing. I wish it was less though because it's hugely noticeable. I wouldn't wear these shoes to an interview if they were black because of it.

No, plain ole' brown. Snagged these from the shoe bank for 299. Great deal, though every so often the crooked cap stitching catches my eye.

Oh, and they looked horrendous out of the box at first...

Here's another pic

I received a 30% off code for amazon today, I am not sure if you have to be a prime member, but it knocked off 70 dollars off of some brown McTavish's I have been wanting to order.  I used some credit card points along with the discount and scored the shoes for 131 dollars!!

I feel good, now my wife can't complain that I spent 250 dollars on shoes.

I ordered a pair of walnut Strands yesterday from Amazon with the 30% off code. Here's the total amount I paid:

Item Subtotal: $342.67
Shipping & Handling: $5.48
Promotion Applied: -$108.28

Total Before Tax: $239.87
Estimated Tax: $21.29

Order Total: $261.16

My wife and I were in your neck of the woods last week for a conference in New Orleans.  Had a great time.  Great city.

I can't believe that you AE lovers with 8.5 shoe size haven't snagged these gorgeous boots yet.

Not my shoes but here: Ebay Link

It is that. I try to get down there for a weekend every couple of months. Parts of New Orleans make you feel like you've left the country entirely.

bespoken_pa lives there currently. I believe he's a carpetbagger, though.
