This didn't work for me.  Is there a code?

The Jeff isn't a longwing, though, right?

With respect to the "shortness" of the MacNeil...

I am a 12D or E in just about everything. I tried a 12D MacNeil---too narrow. So I went with the 12E, which felt better. After a few wearings, my two smallest toes were hurting. Adjusting the laces didn't help---that can't widen (loosen?) the area where the discomfort was. So I punted them.

12Es work for me like a champ in other 7 Last shoes like Westchester and Grayson. So you guys think the Macneils are too short? Interesting. I will try a 13D in them. That might work.

Well, in that case, for your consideration. The AE Larchmont-Jubei edition oxford longwing:

I'm accepting orders now! Haha... bigstar[1].gif

No, it's not.  The Jeff style looks better than the Larchmont, I just wish it was on the 333 last and the price of the Larchmont.

That's awesome!  If it was a short wing in the chocolate color, I would buy that shoe!

My experience was that my toes felt like they were being crammed into the front of the shoe, rather than the small toes being pinched for being too narrow. It felt like I was hitting the front of the shoe; but this may just be my interpretation of the same issue. I emailed AE about the fit to get their advice, and they didn't think that the MacNeil ran smaller than their other shoes. They suggested that they needed to be broken in by flexing the soles, but did say that they would not stretch. It did not work for me, but sizing up 1/2 did, and they do not feel too big at all.

It seemed like I was the only one, until patrickb and blast@r also confirmed.

My guess is that it might not be the last, but maybe more that the MacNeil is a high, tight, and solid shoe. By that I mean that the double soles make it stiffer, and also that the sides seem to more solidly "grip" around my foot and ankle due to its hefty construction. There is no give in the leather at all.

Anyone know how I could get this shoe?

That was custom made by AE ( http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2012/03/avoidable-contact-when-it-comes-to-the-options-some-people-have-no-standards/?print=1 ) but their website 'custom shoes' area does not seem to have shell cordovan options.

Looks very, very similar to the 000 last to me.

It might not be shell cordovan - if you pick the Redenbach sole option, they all say cordovan on the bottom.

Interesting. What colors/leathers do you think this is?

I recently went the other way. I have a lot of shoes and boots on the #1 last. Last week I picked up the 5th St. boot and the McAllister on the 5 last, my first ones on the 5. Much to my surprise I am liking the 5 last a lot. Love the way it fits. The 5 is slightly longer than the #1 last. I have the Dalton in shell and believe there is some fit difference between the calf Dalton. The heel area of the shell Dalton seems to run large for most people. Width is fine in the toebox and a bit wider than most of my others on the #1. Even though a shoe is built on a certain last there seems to be a lot of variation between the individual shoe models due to structure, leather, etc. The Malvern I'm going to see about returning, there is no way those things are going to be comfortable long term for me. But that is the only shoe on the #1 that I have had an issue with.

Same with me. I had to go up a half size for my macneil as well.
