I have the Brooks Newmok. It's a great-looking shoe. Enjoy.

If you're going to claim this, where are you getting your information?  Unless you're on the board, I doubt your claims have any real validity.  Personally, I hate to see someone slander an american company like you are.

AE's now previous owners were a PE firm, and they grew the company domesticaly 20% year over year for the past 3 years, and in their 7 year ownership they made $80 million growing AE.  The new PE owners specialize in growing specialty retail companies, so they have perfectly good reasons why they would want to invest in AE.

Seeing how Brentwood knows they would lose a HUGE customer base by going offshore, and therefore lose millions and millions of dollars on the deal, you should probably find something else to talk about that you actually know something about.

I don't need to sit on the board to see something that is blindingly obvious.

Over the next 2-5 years you will gradually witness an increase in lines that are outsourced overseas. By 2018 I'd wager the company as a whole will be doing roughly 30-50% of their total manufacturing through outsourced facilities.

There's no need trying to explain. Just wait and see. We'll find out soon enough who is right and who is wrong.

By the way, how long was RL made in the US and Italy before they began outsourcing to Asia? Brooks Bros? Shall I go on?

It got to the point that any PO I issued that was not outsourced overseas would require I fill in a paragraph or two defending why I wasn't. Brentwood owns 360 Sourcing (Asia) which is a company that helps outsource and they were quick to use them. From their website:
THREE SIXTY ASIA

ThreeSixty Asia is a global sourcing operation that assists its customers with the procurement of consumer and light industrial goods. ThreeSixty leverages its network of international factories to achieve the lowest possible product cost while maintaining specified quality standards.

Yep. It only take a bit of common sense if you know business and a little about M&A.

I think you are way off base and presenting a lot of your personal assumptions as fact

Allen Edmonds Harrison MTO in Black Shell Cordovan

I finally got my MTO Harrison's. I didn't do anything too fancy, just changed the upper from the supple leather to shell cordovan. The results are absolutely amazing. The black shell cordovan is absolutely flawless. Here is a sneak peak.

Hope that you enjoy them as much as I do!

Thanks,

Mike

The idea that AE would lose a "HUGE customer base" by going offshore is silly and naive. The majority of people (here and outside of the forums) would continue to buy unless there was a noticeable change in quality and/or price. Over-excited customers always claim that they'll go elsewhere if the company does "X," but they rarely come even close do fulfilling those threats. It's called "throwing a tantrum."

Those are downright stunning. I like my black shell Leeds, and I've seen some nice black shell Park Avenues, but those are handily the nicest black shell US-made shoes I've ever seen.

Sadly, I cannot check on my order because I can't login to my AE account. When I try, it asks me to change my password. When I try to change my password, it tells me to fill in the Current Password field, which doesn't exist. Anyone else having this problem?

I had this same problem a month ago. I had to email customer service and have them reset my password to rectify it.

I ordered an 8.5 an think I need to size up to a 9. Is that one that you ordered?

Actually, yes. I wear an 8.5D/E in the 5-65 (I wear an 8.5D, but am confident an E would fit pretty well also). From all the reviews of them not fitting well, I ordered an 8.5EEE, 9D, 9EEE, and 9.5D. I assumed an 8.5D simply wouldn't work. Again, they haven't arrived yet, but it's possible I'll have something that works well for you. I'll certainly get back to you. First step is getting to login again. ;)
