fwiw, I have a couple of Daltons in 8D and a pair of Strands in 7.5D.  I find the comparison between the two (although different sizes) such that the Strands are significantly narrower.  So my impression is the opposite of what you're asking.

Thanks for the info. Might just have to try to Dalton in person when I get the chance before ordering. :)

Comparatively to the 5, the Dalton's last is slightly narrower right?
I've got a pair of Daltons and a pair of Strands both in 11B and the Daltons are wider than the Strands....so much so that I probably could have swung a 10.5B. With that said, I have a pair of Bayfields in 11B (same last as Dalton) and they fit closer to the Strand (ie, narrower).

Both shoes are considered PTBs, but that's where the similarities end. While the kenilworth is sleeker (5 last) than the leeds (1 last), the leeds is a much more substantial shoe, not to mention the shell v. calf difference. The leeds is also much easier, IMO, to wear casually. I have the leeds in burgundy shell, dark brown shell, and black shell. I used to have the kenilworth in dark brown calf. I sold it after a few wears. Just too skinny and "wimpy" for a PTB - at least for my personal style. And I even like the 5 last!!

But I do acknowledge that many like the kenilworth. I have no issue with that.

Shell Leeds are 595; calf kenilworths are 295. So this is quite a difference too.

I really, really like these Shell Kenilworths, but $780 is way out of my price range, and there aren't even half sizes. Am I wrong, or couldn't you get a custom made Shell Kenilworth in your exact size from AE for less than that?

I'd never pay 800 for a pair of AE. You can do better for that price range.

Here are some shoes that almost never get mentioned in this thread, but are one of my personal favorites. Walton in chili burnished calf to wrap up the week yesterday.
Wow, those really look fantastic. As usual, the AE website pictures do not do them justice. Have you polished them yourself? I like the color better in your pics than as portrayed as new by AE. Also, the 3 last work great for that shoe!

You are not wrong, but I don't know the exact details of MTO for AE. Their cordovan shoes sell for $595. There may also be an issue about whether they would do it at all for you. Just call a store and ask about it. In any case, I'd be surprised if it's anywhere the $780 that Freeman is charging for their custom makeup.

Just got a new set of McAllisters in the mail directly from AE, and noticed what appears to be some deformities on the outer sides of the shoes. On the left shoe it has noticeable wrinkling in several areas (as if the leather was attached improperly or something), and on the right shoe there is a noticeable bulge in the leather. Attached are photos.

Is this normal, or should I send these back and ask for an exchange?

Well, looks like they're out of Sandersons in my size unfortunately. Damn.

Anyone know of a similar-ish pair of tan longwing bluchers I could get for <$250? I've looked at Meermin but their light brown is still a little darker than I'd prefer.

Thanks! Yes, I polish them about every 6 weeks on average probably. Just good old AE Cleaner/Conditioner and AE Chili Premium Polish. They work great in my opinion!

My Bourbon Neumora's came in last night. Usually I hate having such a generic shoe size, but now I'm glad I wear the only size they made these in!

Three shots for you guys in room, flash, and natural lighting.

Here's a quick pic of the Sandersons:

You just had to call my bluff didn't you.

Beautiful shoes!

I wear 9.5E in the Lasalle/Delray (8 last).  I keep hearing this last runs narrow/long.  What's your experience?

I found the Sandersons to fit pretty much the same as my 1-lasted Hamptons at the same size, 9D. The shoe length is a little bit longer, but the feel is pretty much the same on the foot.

If you aren't happy with them, send them back for an exchange or a return, but it might be informative to reveal whether those are firsts or seconds.
