I was under the impression that all shoes were on sale, RTP.

Thanks Tifosi.  That's what I thought.

I'm due for a pair of plaintoe shell. I would be interested in some Dundees, Leeds or brown norwiches, if they are at an attractive enough price

My guess is that they will be $505 @ 15% off.

I was just thinking if there was anything I should get to take advantage. Norwich sounds good. I would prefer something brown, but there isn't much in brown stock that isn't a bal. In fact I don't think there is anything besides the Dundee (which I already have coming in cappuccino)

You are spot on.  It might be that if the discounts go mainstream, they fear that more people would buy shoes at the lower prices and sales at full retail would be threatened.  I have a feeling that not a ton of folks are using the outlets because the information is not widely publicized.  I sent them a message last night and got a reply this morning.  They didn't have what I wanted, but I still appreciated the fast response.  A company like AE needs those retail sales to keep in the black.

I hear you. I also find this system inefficient and at times humiliating. This mostly happens at the ShoeBank, which gets ridiculously busy during the sales. I was told that SAs don't get percent from their sales during the sale event (please pardon my tautology). This has been one of the reason I stopped dealing with the ShoeBank at first place.

I don't know why AE can't implement the same system as the ShoeMart, where the list gets generated and sent to your email address once in a couple of months. Of course, we'll be likely to get this list far more often in case of AE.

I definitely understand what you are talking about. Sometimes I get the same delay, and it seems if you cast a wider net, your chances increase (email 2 different outlets, one will answer... or just pick up the phone). I don't have experience with the shoemart's system. but it does sound interesting. How are their prices in terms of % off vs. AE's shoebank?

I might have to look into this, but I don't exactly know my alden sizing, and some major QC issues on firsts in the alden thread have me wary.

As far as TheShoeMarts Alden seconds list...Calf shoes are $299 and shell shoes are $399. Not much variation.
I don't know if the shoe mart has lists for any other manufacturers.

Let me add that the boots are also $299 and $399 respectively.

Yes, thank you. I thought about that as I was typing it haha.

The ShoeMart mailing list is very hit or miss. I'm not sure what kind of database they use, but sometimes people get them and sometimes they don't.

Thank you for you time!

Good question, and sorry I didn't catch this before.  The first page contains a letter from Mr. Grangaard which states "...plus, save 14.92% on all other Allen Edmonds branded items..."

So yes, it would appear as if shell is included.

I may give the Jefferson in Brown Shell or the cambridge in burgundy shell a try.  Since I just acquired the Alden PTB in dark ravello, I'm not interested in the Leeds or Dundee.  Any suggestions for AE's available shell??   Norwich looks cool but too close to the PTB.

Thanks in advance!

Just under $550 with tax. Not bad...
