The burgundy in Cambridge is a great pair of shoes and one of the most versatile. I am sure that you will get great use out of them. Burgundy is the classic Shell color.

Amazon has 30% off code "TAKE30OF"

I found a pair of suede Strands, but not available to ship to Canada.  Basterds.

It depends on your relationship with the SA.

Code doesn't work.  Says invalid.

To clarify - I ordered the first shells today -- still waiting for their arrival.

My current AE family will be:

Black Delrays

Brown Delrays

Black Fifth Avenue

Walnut Strand

Walnut McNeil

Brown Tribeca

So now, I'll add a pair of burgundy Shell Cambridge to the lot....

I once found a beautiful pair of vintage Jodox at a Goodwill.  They were $15 - double soled, in very good shape.  But they were 9C, - a little too narrow for me as I'm a D.  I let them go on Ebay.

Sounds worth checking out, if it comes to that. Hopefully I won't have to find out smile.gif

The fit is also quite different from the current 5 last- much wider and a higher instep vs something of the same size today...I am scared that they won't fit anymore once it comes time for a resoling if they use the current 5 last and soles.

You mentioned these were older Cambridge not in the 5 last.  Which was was it made on?

Quick interest check: Anyone interested in a pair of used but well cared for Bayfields? US8.5D.

The Cambridges are on the 5 last but seem to fit much differently than other calf and shell 5 lasted shoes I've owned. I am usually an e width, but these in d fit me perfectly (bottom of sole much wider and much higher instep). I bought these NOS off of ebay, so i have no idea when they are from (hopefully authentic). It has white lettering, a natural leather insole and white stitching on the sole.

What's the general consensus on the burgundy macneils?

I just bought the last one in the shoe bank, but I'm not 100% certain I want to keep it. I already have the merlot calf Macallister coming my way, so I'm not sure whether the cordovan macneil is redundant.

For anyone who might have been wondering how the white Vibram "Gumite" soles on the Tan Strandmoks wear and if the white soles show dirt, here's how my Tan Strandmoks look after being worn around once a week for a few months.......

I don't always follow this thread very closely but I'm sure glad I did this week. I was able to score the Park Ave in shell. The shoe has some creasing (was obviously tried on), but for $299 I'm not going to complain. Thanks to all for the heads up on Sunday!

These arrived quickly as they just happened to be at an AE store 7 miles from my house!
