Renomat is definitely not something you want to use often. I believe the box recommends that you use it once or twice a year at most. It is effective at stripping away buildup of wax, and color paste.
renoMAT will get a once over on a couple pair of shell that I use/abuse a bit more.
renovateur gets used more frequently, mainly to recondition.
I will admit I grabbed a bottle of leather honey from the back of the closet for some CXL and was quite impressed with the results on some beat up alden 403s
Has anyone picked up a pair of the suede Strands? I love my brown ones and have been looking for a pair of casual suede shoes, but I noticed the suede Strands have a different model number (1614). Do they not fit the same as the regular Strands, which are on the 5 last?
Asking this question again. Any ideas?
Really considering pulling the trigger on a pair of Dalton, I am only a little worried because Im not sure what size to get. Some people said that the 1 last was a little narrower than the 5 last and to order 1 width higher (D to E), some say to stick to the same size. Is there more of a consensus when it comes to this ? Did anyone get the Daltons in the same size as their other 5 last shoes ?
I have lots of shoes on the 5 last in 12D. I have 3 pairs of Daltons, all size 12D. I have no wrinkling on the wing, just in the right spot. In the summer I wear normal dress socks, and must admit they are a bit loose, but in the fall and winter I wear thicker socks, and they fit perfectly. By the way, I am very happy with the Dalton, I have a pair of black Daltons on order. Can't wait. I would pull that trigger, you won't be disappointed.
Seeing the Dalton on the list of seconds in a color other than walnut is odd. I would be all over those chocolates for $199. I got the list yesterday and they only have walnut in my size. Also, I picked up a pair of burgundy shell Daltons a couple months back for I think around $360. Not bad for a retail $699 boot. I would say anything under $400 for a second in a shell Dalton boot is a great price. If you can swing it, I would get on both of those.
Thank you for doing this Pastor!
I agree with this. Most of my shoes and boots have never seen Renomat. And when I do I don't let it sit for the full 15 minutes that the bottle say, maybe 5 at the most then follow it up right away with Renovateur.
I got tired of the mess in my closet from my boots all over the place. My first step was to get rid of lot of my clothes that I hardly wore to make room for some shoe racks. I got some cheap plastic/metal racks but they just didn't do the trick. So I got a woodworker to make me a boot rack of heart of cedar or aromatic cedar or whatever it's called. I'm much happier now but I don't think my closet is big enough for another rack...
Your cedar boot rack turned out very well with good spacing and room for air flow. Nice job!
