FEDEX just delivered my Walnut/Bone Broadstreets.  I'm wanting to give them a nice conditioning and polishing before the maiden voyage.  I need some advice on best practices to care for these.

I have a pair of these. Snagged them for $129 almost two years ago.

Why in the world were they so cheap!

Fabian, I think you are reading my last post out of context.  I had earlier written:

Aside from the above great bargains - some of these styles ARE EVEN LOWER at Allen Edmonds Seconds Sale - 2 PAIR FOR $250 - starting today until August 4th.

Just email jville@allenedmonds.com

Tell the store what sizes you wear, and they will email back the store-wide inventory of what is available to purchase thru email or phone.

Fabian, I truly thank you for mentioning the sale - it has driven more discussion between all of us.

Again, thanks.

The kicker is there is nothing else I like. There may have been when I asked for the Elgin two days ago, but everything is gone now.

You may want to go with a high price second choice item and buy it at $125 - then sell them on eBay or Amazon or here on the forums.  Or a gift to a friend.

I could sell the Long Branch all day long at $150 plus shipping on eBay.

Take a look at the list of available stock again and then look at the photos.  Something might jar your thinking.

I was actually thinking of doing just that, in which case the Dalton in grey is the most expensive thing on the list.

I've looked at every single picture I think, still no luck. Only the Spiaggia in navy is a small possibility.
The most bothersome part is after the phone call they sent me a new list and the Elgin that I can't have is still on there just taunting me.

I was at Nordstrom today buying shoe trees and I purchased AE shoe polish for my new burnished burgundy Clifton's. The SA recommended "Chili" color polish. What do you all think? Does that work best with these shoes? I posted pictures several post back.

Whenever I hear of a store suggesting a color - sight unseen on how it will appear - I get real cautious.   Now I use the Saphir Color Guide, which matches the colors to near perfect by placing the color guide hole over the shoe.

Or, order one in the mail to keep.

You may want to keep the Dalton.  You could experiment with color waxes to give it a unique shine.  And it is a boot that can be worn with just about any pants.

The chromexcel bayfields are temping with 2 for $250.  A player shoe or lubbock would make a good second choice.  But I just bought a pair of red wings....

I am sure that monica or krystal at jville will provide me with an entire inventory list if I request that and not just what is a sale/closeout item.

You're probably right.

Thanks for the follow up,
