I have split toe trees and full toe trees.

AE specifically recommends its full toe trees for its AE shoes.

And considering Gucci pumps out corrected grain, glued-on-sole shoes, I wouldn't put much credence in your line of logic.

I dunno about all that. Gucci is the most iconic bit loafer and there are pleanty of them that lasted 30 years of wearing.

Just because it's iconic doesn't mean it's well-made. They have glued-on soles and aren't built for longevity.

how does a glued on sole that isn't recraftable last 30 years? Just don't wear them?

Has anyone found a good solid leather belt that matches the AE merlot shoes? I like the AE classic wide belt style, but from reading the reviews on their site it seems the belt quality is not on par with their shoes.

While I think Gucci shoes are a waste of money, I do believe they are blake stitched, not glued.

Just bought a Trafalgar burgundy belt during Nordstrom Anniv sale, $30 on sale, reg $75. So far, so good, but I've only worn it twice I think, to date. J

No. If you look at pics over at the other site you will see people who have worn Gucci's for decades and they still hold up.

Lots of haters who can't afford it.

Actually more like people who rather spend $600+ on on shell cordovan MTOs, C&J, Carmina or double that on G&G and JLs.

The point I'm going for is that Gucci is a fashion house. They put aesthetic trends over everything else, so they're not the best people to take advice from on shoe care. Most of their stuff is made to last a season so you can buy their newest stuff the year after.

My collection and current rotation for the work week. Planning on getting at least 1 more pair preferably in a Brown before I go into hibernation. What am I missing and what do yall recommend? And in what color? All suggestions appreciated! (P.S. Not looking to get any monkstraps, loafers, & boots)

^Personally, I'd start exploring other shoemakers if you have the funds. If you're set on Allen Edmonds, I'd suggest a blucher in dark brown/bourbon. Kenilworth, Delray/Lasalle, or Parkway. Dark brown parkway probably the closest to a poor man's dark oak dover. Or perhaps shell?

Thanks for the heads up.

Nice collection DHD28!  Looks similar to what I want.  I currently have walnut Strands and black McAllisters.  I think I'm going to get a pair of merlot McAllisters and a pair of dark brown Fifth Avenues to round out my AE collection.

Do you know which burgundy belt it is?  I didn't see it on the Nordstrom site but I could be missing it.  I think I'm going to pull the trigger on some merlot McAllisters and I need a good belt to match them :)
