Do all Allen Edmonds fit the same? The Park Avenues gave me this problem:

Would the McAllisters likely do the same?

Each last is a little different so the answer is that not all Allen Edmonds fit the same. Here is a link on AE with details of their various lasts: http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonline/AllAboutLastsView?langId=&storeId=1&catalogId=40000000001

Unfortunately both the McAllisters and the Park Avenues are on the same '5' last so I would expect a similar experience

Would you say bowing out is a result of the size being too long, too small, or too wide, narrow?

I will say that i have never had a 5 last shoe that had absolutely no bowing. There have been many reasons proposed on this thread as to why. Be it poor fit, not enough time on the last during the manufacturing process, or just a construction defect. In the case of Bexcellence, ignoring the possible construction possibilities, the lacings look too close and the opening gap too drastic. I would reevaluate my fit, maybe a narrower width...

I have a bowing problem on my strand but only when I take a step and land on the ground. Once the moment of impact is over, the bowing is gone. The strand is in size 10EEE. The shoes felt ok in the store but after wearing it for a day, I realized it to be too big. Turns out the correct size for me in the 5 last is something between a 9.5EEE and 10E, with the 9.5EEE a little tight while the 10E a little long.

Hello fellow AE fans. I'm a longtime lurker, first time poster. I have a few pairs of AE's, mostly from the casual collection,

Elgin 11 D
McTavish Tan 11 D
Neumok Green 11 E
Aberdeen Tan 11.5 E
Black Hills 11.5 E

I'm a therapist at a VA Clinic and work with Veterans who are often struggling financially, so I try to dress accordingly. Even so, I like to express my love for shoes. I often feel overdressed compared to even my coworkers, much less my clients. I'm really wanting the Strands in Walnut, but also believe the Strands in Bourbon would be a great bet come Derby time. My question is, if you had to pick one of these two given my collection, which would you choose, which might be less "flashy"? Also, any advice on "dressing down" so that my love for shoes doesn't seem so "flashy". Most of the people in my world see brogues as flashy, but I just love them and am afraid a dress brogue like the Strand might really be over the top. Anyone else in a work situation like this, if so, how to do you manage?

Looking forward to contributing now that I've taken the first step to sign up!

Next to my BB LHS--same size (11B)

AE did a fantastic job with these. It's a pretty round/full toebox--I would suggest 1/2 size down. YMMV though.

Does anybody know how you would call or classify these two shoes? I'm somewhat of a shoe n00b though I'm learning thanks to this site. I'm interested in the one on the left and right and wondering if anybody knows where I could get some. I'm hoping once I identify the nomenclature I can just google them. I pulled this off the German AE site from the Contact Us page but an extensive search of both the German and American AE websites have lead me to believe that these are discontinued :(

After wearing my fifth aves yesterday, I kind of wish I had have gotten something different like the strands or rutledge.  The cap just makes the entire shoe look... off.  I really wish it was longer.  I guess it's too late now, though.

I like mine.

It's better than the Park Ave. that toe cap is super small dude.

The one on the left is a longwing spectator I think. Not sure about the one on the right.

Here is a listing of the stores located throughout Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. I'd just try calling the ones closest to you to see if they'll do that for a fee. I contacted the one in Regensburg, Germany and they said that they didn't have any Size 7 shoes on hand but that they could order them for me and I could try them on at the store...that might be your secondary option...which country are you in?

Bel Air, Burbank, and Winhall - all discontinued. The pic is from the 2009 catalog - http://issuu.com/allenedmonds/docs/spring-2009-catalog

Hi everyone,

I picked up a pair of Allen Edmond shoes at my local thrift store and I'm wondering if you can tell me what style they are, as I am quite curious!

As you can see, they're definitely used, but I think they're still in good shape. They even still had trees inside them!

Any assistance you can provide would be most welcome. Thank you for your help!

The one on the left is the walnut/bone Bel Air, and I think the one on the right is the Winhall. I don't know about the middle one. I believe all three are discontinued, though.

Is there any difference to the Brooks Brother AE's and the regular AE's.

Was looking to get couple of the BB AE's with teh 2 for $300 sale.

Thinking of getting the Strand's, Numok.....Or the 5th Avenue.

I currently have the following AE's:

Park Ave (Burgundy)
Byron (Chilli)
Bel Air (Chilli)
Burton (Brown)
Delray (Black)
Hale (Black)
Jackson (Black)

For the Strand, looking at either the Brown or Walnut....which would compliment my current collection?

I think I'll get the Strand's for sure.....deciding on whether to get the Numok vs. the 5th Avenue.

thanks
