On a side note, received my brown neumora's today and I love them. I'm a 10D in the brannick and the 9D in neumora fit me perfect. Gonna return the Westchesters for a pair of black neumora's.

Anybody know if outlets are honoring Independence Day pricing yet?

Is there an Independence Day sale?

Yes there is, $100 off independence seconds

Anybody know the color and material of the fifth ave on this page? To me it looks much lighter than the dark brown calf but darker than the walnut calf... Is it dark brown shell?

What the heck?  I just ordered a pair in burgundy.  That can't be passed up!

How do these fit? TTS? I'm a 10D on brannick and 10 D in a strand. Should I stay with a 10D?

I believe they are still on the 5 last (like the strand). This was confirmed on the FAQ page for the item. Hopefully thats the case.

Ordered a few pairs From Jos. A. Bank. Only needed to find a parcel service in Buffalo, set up an account, and add a secondary address to my credit card. Worth it (and the subsequent 4 hours round trip) if it does not get canceled.

It seems that they are on the 8 last. I called my local AE and they said the 8 is as close to the 5 as it gets and people generally wear the same size.

Ordered a few of the Nathans, hopefully they work like my 5 lasts!

I'm wondering the same. At this price I'll pull the trigger and see if it's a pricing mistake. I'm a 7.5E (could be EE) on the 5 last and 8E on the 1 last. Any ideas on the 8 lasted Nathan?

How does the 8 last fit compared to the 4 last?

In the Q&A for the Nathan it says that they are build on the Fifth Ave last which would be 5. Anyone know for sure?

If you go to the third photo for the Nathan (http://www.josbank.com/menswear/shop/Product_11001_10050_299318) and mouse-over to zoom in you can see the last digit of the model number is an 8. In the AAAC thread it indicated that this number is the last. Does this mean 8 last even thought the responded from JAB indicates it's on the 5?

Yes, in the beginning you will need to do a bit of brushing, combined with a damp paper towel or rag (or begin cold iron's regimen). But, after that all it takes is a quick wipe down and brush and they look great.

I have the 3 you are considering, in fact I have the Leeds in both black and burgundy shell. If you dislike the pointy toe on the 7 last then look to the Cambridge instead of the MacNeil. I'd focus instead on fit and comfort. The reality is that any cordovan shoe will require about the same care after the first few wearings - it's only the are in the beginning that's materially different (Alden vs everyone else).

Warning! Shell is very addictive and dangerous... It is like heroin... Once you have a taste, you can't stop.

Nothing shows off shell like a PTB, and they don't draw attention except to those in the know... I kind of like that about them.

Some great advice, thank you. I am aware and very scared of the addictive qualities of shell.

I appreciate the insights; will post pics once purchased.

Additionally....just heard that my AE MTO should be ready in a few days. I am one of the few that went with a non-shell cordovan order as well. Hope to be able to post some pics of those as well!

Thanks for the confirmation. I only have 5 and 1 last shoes. Any idea how the 8 compares?

Welp, one of each colour purchased... Hopefully can recoup some of the expense selling a pair if necessary, but couldnt pass up the deal.
