Your wife is right - the WIlbert is too old manish.  Here's why:

1. Beefroll on the vamp
2. Cushion thingy along the opening.

You're better served going with the Delray - it's sleeker and more modern.

There is a time and place for every shoe. I have Delrays, but don't like them with jeans. I'd rather wear chukka's, long wings or loafers with jeans.

I'm size 13, I personally have no problem with AE's 13, to be fair, it runs a bit long, but nothing that severe and therefore I like the overall fit. One more thing I'd like to add, I read one review for a size 15 Neumok on the AE website.
I'll copy and paste the review (was the only negative one, I believe.)

"I ordered the brown Neumok in a size 15 and had to wait three week for it to be shipped because it was out of stock. I had no problem with the wait, I was just happy the shoe was available in my size.
The shoe arrived and I was too excited to get home and see them. I opened the box to some absolutely beautiful shoes. I immediately tried them on and thought wow thes are some comfortable shoes, the leather is so soft and supple, incredible quality. BUT, then I tried to walk in them my foot slid forward in the shoe. I could put my index finger behind my foot inside the shoe. Also there was an extra inch of room in the front of the shoe. They fit like a size 17. I also own the black Positano whch is sized as all my other shoes do. The shoe is probably one of the best I've ever owned but the sizing is ridiculously off, way to long.
What good is a great shoe if it doesn't fit?

thanks for the response, im actually UK14. are you US or UK and do you know if the reviewer is US or UK.

Im usually not worried about fir but i recently ordered online a pair of shoes which ran too big to wear, i was able to return this to the uk but if ive to return to the states its gonna cost more on top of the high import taxes ill incur (at least 50% of cost).

I'm a US 13 and the reviewer is from Atlanta, so I'm guessing he's a US 15.

Yeah, that's the scary thing about ordering online, you just never know, gotta do your research first, like you're doing right now.
I once ordered a Chukka from ALDO (I'll never make that mistake again, the quality is sub-par and the it's really overpriced, because ALDO makes trendy good looking shoes, but won't last you a year, I learned the hard way.) Anyway, I was thinking about buying the Chukka online, but decided to go to the store and it turned out that I had to buy a size fifteen! Because their 13 fit like an 11. So moral of the story is, I'm now a die-hard Allen Edmonds fan!

I also have a large size foot, usually 15 but sometimes 14. The issue with Allen Edmonds is the variation from last to last is exacerbated by the whole sizes and lack of variety of widths. If you find a last and style that works, it usually works great. Other lasts don't work at all. If you experiment and not force a shoe that really doesn't fit, you should be fine.

Terrible review. I am a 15 in several AE lasts, but could not even get my foot into a Positano. To me, sizing conversations have to start with the Park Avenue and other 5 last shoes as they are the highest volume production. The Neumok is on the 5 last and fits similarly.

To be clear, you have no issues as a size 15.

Winston S, the Navy Neumok is Leather (For suede, they have it in Snuff and tan suede)
Here's a picture of my Navy Neumoks and short video review.

Thanks 0ShinAkuma0. I was only asking because Michael Haines linked to a navy suede belt.

I have a closet full of AE and I can tell you it completely depends on the last. That is why I highly recommend trying on a few different lasts and styles in at least 3 sizes to be sure.

For me:
1, 3, 5 - all fit great
7- depends on the style
4, 8, 9 - I get heel slippage
2 - doesn't fit. not even close
6 (new Patriot) - just got a 14EEE. Seems to work but waiting for them to break in to be sure.

It seems complicated for buying shoes, but a good fit in a well made quality shoe is worth it. Hope this helps you.

Question:

Do any of you feel a sense of relief when AE comes out with a new webgem that you are not interested in buying? I've been able to resist every one since the red, white, and blue McAllisters but I'm getting itchy.

After a very long deliberation, I finally returned my AE Strands today. I bought them during the Nordstrom sale, but kept waffling on whether to keep them....I had tried on several sizes in the store and found 9.5EEE seemed to be the best fit (and honestly it technically is); however, even with the best fit I can get, the shoes still feel longer and more awkward than I'd prefer....it's as if my feet look clownish. I don't seem to have that problem in some other AEs (specifically, the Delrays and Lasalles). I just really love the 8 last a ton, and am not a big fan of the 5 last.

If AE made the Strand in walnut on the 8 last, I'd buy that in a heartbeat. It might be the perfect shoe for me. But until then, I might keep looking for something else to fill that void . . . I had considered the Vernon in black for a tux shoe (but will probably look elsewhere for that purpose), but the saddle brown Vernon looks pretty nice, and that shoe is on the 8 last too . . .
