Maybe thats why I didn't get laid at the bar that night.... Hmmm must have been my cheapy shoes

If you were wearing crocs, then your shoes may have played a role in your lack of success.

Then again, you may have issues that go beyond shoes.  biggrin.gif

Oh yeah, I forgot to include my Zero Last Walnut Augustas, which I'm trying to sell, because as you can see, I have a few pair of walnut AE's shog%5B1%5D.gif:

Every week someone posts pics of shoes that AE should be still making. Yet another style AE needs to bring back.

I'd settle for just bringing the zero last back. Great last.

9D - They are just a little wide for me. I measure 9.5C on brannock and wear 9D and 9.5C in 5 last.  These are the only Zero Last shoes I have worn, and I am guessing that 9C would be a much better fit for me in that last, or possibly 9.5C or 9.5B?

I'd be curious as to other people's experiences with sizing on the zero last in comparison to five last balmorals.

Muchas gracias, Senor!  The walnut AE polish I added last week really changed their color dramatically from walnut to more orange/chili in color, but I dig it.  I'll be using chestnut AE polish in the future.

So, I recently acquired some odd AE shoes on the bay, which were marketed as suede, and looked like suede in pictures, but which strike me in person more like nubuck or something similar.

They are brown Barton captoes on the One Last (corporate casual models judging by the rubber soles):

Any clues as to the material of the upper?

They fit well at 9.5C, which is not surprising since I measure 9.5C on brannock, but these are my first 9.5C on the One Last (9D Daltons fit kind of tight in the length).

And my brown suede Cambridges just for sh%ts and giggles (amazing!):

A few questions on AE products.

Cotton flannel cloth. Any reason why I shouldn't just use an old t-shirt?

Is there any difference between AE's carnauba wax and Kiwi's wax polish?

Last, should the same coloured wax polish be used to achieve a mirror shine or can neutral wax do the job?

Thanks.

So I have two pairs of AE's, basically my first good shoes that aren't J&M's from a mall. I have pair of Hale's in Chili (that I LOVE) but seem to only have one real suit that I like wearing them with and pair of black Fifth Ave's.

I've recently seen the burnished walnut Rutledge and am smitten - but are they too close in color to my Hale's?

Also, from reading this thread it seems I need to add at least one more pair to my rotation to avoid prematurely wearing out my shoes correct?

I live in NY and walk to work (only 7-10 blocks) but it's still walking on pavement, sidewalks, etc. Should I be giving my shoes for than a day off between wears?

I have a pair of Holbrooks that look like that - they are made of chocolate chamois. I'm thinking that is what you have.

Wow, I'm like 800 posts behind in this thread. So much activity!

Apologies in advance if this has been asked, but does anyone have a real life example of the chili color that is being offered as the web gem. Would appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately I didn't. I ended up being too busy.

Currently, I never wear shoes more than once a week. I too started off with two pairs of AE's and rotated them. As I added more and more AE shoes (thanks to calling the Shoe Bank) I was able to give them breaks. In the summer my feet tend to sweat more so a rotation is even more important...but the most important thing you can do is BUY SHOE TREES for you babies. They're on sale right now for $9.90 @ Nordstrom Rack and I assume that's within reach there in NY.
