That's a pretty big production error - how did that even make it out of the factory as seconds? In fact, how did the the person assembling the heel not notice that? Makes you wonder...

I bought the Tresana in brown... it's VERY dark, almost black.

It's hard to tell that they are brown unless next to a black pair. That said, I do love the color. It's a great shoe.

They are definitely dark cabernet brown, if you can find the matching AE polish, it will add the necessary cabernet to keep the color accurate. In any case enjoy them, they are one of my favorites pair of AE's.

I ended up snagging a pair of merlot Park Avenues on ebay (not the ones I showed you guys earlier, they were almost brand new with minimal wear on the soles). Do you guys know of any belt alternatives that would match? I'm kind of hesitant to shell out 100 dollars for the allen edmonds belt.

I had the same issue, got tired of paying the price for the official AE belts, so I picked up a belt at Nordstrom's for around $40 on sale to match my merlot PA's. I think it is a Trafalgar brand, but I will double check and post when I get home tonight.

I also recently got a plain brown leather dress belt at Jos. A Banks to go with my brown PA's. It was also around $40 or $50.

Good idea. I have a 50 percent off coupon for men's wearhouse that I never thought I would use, so I guess I can go check out what they have to offer or head to Jos. A Banks. I wish I didn't live in the middle of nowhere and had more options than that.

Nice boots, they do look pretty slick in person as well.

i wonder the same when I saw that difference. the first thing struct me was, I know these are seconds, but this is just too much of an error even as a seconds.

I checked - my belt from Nordstrom's is a Trafalgar.

Also, if you're going to look for a matching belt, wait until you get the shoes and wear them when you go so you can compare the colors directly. I'm not generally a big fan of Jos. A Banks, but they did have a good selection of basic belts last time - in fact, they were practically the only place I could find a plain brown dress belt with a gold buckle.

Anyone have experience with the Malvern and Amok and attest to the fit compared to Strands (5 Last)?

AE website says size up for Malvern according to user reviews (runs small, runs narrow, etc). Wondering if any of you guys have similar experience?

Thanks in advance
