I know this isn't an AE question so please forgive my posting this question here, but I am a loyal AE fan, and thought some other loyal AE people here can help. Has anyone here purchased any Forzieri shoes? I am intrigued by the Nucky Thompson shoes, but for the price they bring, and the fact that they come from Italy, I want to make sure I get the right size. I don't want to deal with a return oversees. I have many, many pairs of AEs, but have never ordered anything from oversees. I normally wear a 12d on the AE 5 last. Anyone have experience or input?

How much did this cost you? I'm not familiar with their recrafting fees.

I got the Standard Package for $125.  They replace the soles, heels, welting, and refinish the uppers.  Sounds pricey, but it's like getting back a brand new pair of shoes!  Here are the full details on AE Recrafting: http://www.allenedmonds.com/recrafting

Just picked up 3 new shoes at Nordstrom’s.  Got a real good deal, two Allen Edmunds, the Brown McClain’s for $219 and the black McNeil’s for $179.  The brown loafers are Cole Haans that I got for $89 normally $179.  I was really looking for some brown loafers and could not pass them up.

Very nice. I've had very decent experiences with AE recrafting. My latest recraft was a pair of black shell Leeds. It is like getting back a new pair of shoes - yet already broken in.

Very nice. How is the inside of the shoes? Did the recrafting do anything there, or was it OK?

I've thought about purchasing a used shoe and sending it out for immediate recrafting, but the sale price and the recraft charge always bring it to $200 or so, which doesn't make sense.  Then there is the issue that they cannot replace the insole . .. .

I can see why you did it here, though, since AE does not offer anything comparable to this discontinued line.  Enjoy!

Yes, this is my issue, as well.

Wait I'm confused...is that Dalton shell? Unless you know something I don't, AE doesn't make a Dalton in Walnut Shell

They are on the same last, no?

The insole was fine, so no worries there.  Re-crafting never replaces the insole, but I've really never had an issue with it deteriorating.

It's walnut shell. I have a pair as do quite a few others on this thread. They were available last year but don't think AE has any more walnut shell right now.
