And I don't mean to derail the thread, I just thought everyone would find it interesting to know where some of that precious shell is going.

And to clarify, the prices listed in that flyer posted earlier in this thread (e.g. ~$135 for some models) are what we would pay for those, and any models not listed there are still 15% off the seconds price, right?

I was told by the outlet store that all factory seconds other than those listed on the flyer would be 15% off. You can email and they will send you a list of available shoes in your size and the current sales prices for each.

Because of the increased demand the rarer browns are harder to come by for both AE and Alden. It never hurts to ask however.

Left top to bottom: walnut, black, #8. Right top to bottom truffle (cappuccino), dark brown.

Left to Right: dark brown, cigar, truffle, walnut. This is all of the brown shell colors offered in the last couple of years by AE that I am aware of.

Love all of them!  Thanks for the pictures of the dark brown cordovan.....they're beautiful!

I never considered that for some reason. And of course AE is correct. The dark brown shell is more of a chocolate color. Tried to capture it as the sun was going down with my dark brown Jefferson's but it is hard to do, at least for me.

And I hope you DO get them!

Yeah Horween is being stretched thin. I have a pair of C&J wingtips in cigar shell provided by Horween and they are identical to the cigar 1K in color. C&J is a more traditional shell shoe maker but their demand is also going up.

Those cordovan McAllisters are gorgeous.

The Jefferson is calf, part of the Independence collection which is an upgrade over the standard calf McAllister. But yes it is the McAllister with the upgrades and it is a great shoe as is the McAllister. The shell version of the McAllister is the Cambridge and one of my favorites.

FYI, you can get up to $50 off some AE shoes from Amazon with code SHOE2013, according to dappered.com. And of course, there are plenty of non-AE offerings, as well.

I didn't see any pricing flyer, but as a point of reference, the Dalton's I just ordered were $257, including tax.  They retail at $390.

Damn, just tried to call them (after getting off of work) and they apparently are closed or something because no one is answering.  Guess the factory store is a 9-5 deal.

Seriously thought about the Dundee version in suede although I am leaning towards the C&J Tetbury... sucks the Dundees are like 1/3 of the price for seconds.

Technically, you could order seconds through a regular retail AE location.

However, if you wish to deal directly with the outlet/factory store branch of the company, which seems logical for such purposes, you don't necessarily have to call the Port Washington ShoeBank. You could call any of these. They should have access to the same inventory, and many of them are open as late as 9pm during the week (but some close as early as 5-6pm some days). I'll list some of them here for future reference, but the information, with hours, is on the Allen Edmonds website.

Picked up a pair of RL Sanderson, Singleton and Illford. Didn't hear anyone mention the last one, but it's also on sale for $130. I hate you people.

The shoe is definitely a darker brown, but I would just call it normal brown.  Trick is, don't use the dark brown cordovan cream that they suggest.  I Reno'ed mine one and already i could tell it got a shade or two lighter, closer to what the website portrays.  Thats what I love about them, until they darkened up on me...  But its a process, i'll reno them once a month (now that i think of it, tonight is the night) and we'll see what they look like after one or two more times.

Believe it or not, the vamp on the shoe reminds me of the darker walnut shell.... once i get them to where i like, i'll take some outside pics.

The Illford is the tan boot with the canvas sides? Someone here purchased those during the "great Jeffersonville boot riot of '12", a couple months ago. Nice pickup!

Found a pic of the boot from an ebay listing.
