Anyone know if there belts ever go on sale? Im looking at that walnut belt that matches the strands.

They have some belts on sale now. I picked up a Belt Creek belt at the sale price - very nice belt for the price, especially the sale price.

Any comments on AE vs Ferragamo sizing? I'm a 10.5D in the AE Players (most recent last). Looking at a pair of Ferragamo single monk loafers...

Finally got my Dundee Chukkas in Cappuccino Cordovan. This first pair they sent were extremely large even though they were supposedly my size. It's odd that I have several pair of shoes on the 1 last and all of them are a 9.5 E but the Dundees fell off my feet. AE ended up making me two pair. One was another 9.5E and then they made me a 9.5D and they let me choose the better fitting of the two. I found the 9.5D to fit better in this shoes. The lesson I learned is that even if shoes are made on the same last they may not fit exactly the same. Anyway, here are pics of the new boots.

Nice!! I really regret not getting a pair of those when available. Certainly hope they have another production run sometime soon, I will not hesitate next time.

I just returned seconds from Freeport to a retail store yesterday. They had no problem doing it. Maybe call your local store and ask them first?
I am pretty sure, though, that they can't handle exchanges for seconds. Seems like the shoe bank/outlets and retail stores are run separately. Of course, you could exchange for firsts at the store.
Also, the retail store will credit your card immediately. So you could call shoe bank right after and order your next pair.
good info.

FYI - San Francisco (Sutter Street) does not handle returns/exchanges of Shoebank seconds. It sounds weird to me that it would depend on the location...I'd figure if one AE retailer does it, they all should...but whatever.

They did allow me to try on a different shoe size even though they knew before hand I wasn't making a purchase there.

I think they all do, but prefer not to. I was told by one of the Chicago stores that they could accept the return if I had no other option, but that they "strongly encourage" customers to deal directly with the shoe bank for returns. The SA's body language and tone made clear that he really did not want to accept the return.

MY AE McNeil cordovans fit larger on me than other AEs on the same last.

Shell cordovan runs a little larger than calf in the same size and last. Likewise the "rough" leathers such as the Neumok, McTavish, and Ridgeway run large as well.

I had the same experience once. The front line CSR did not want to take em, but called the manager and he ok'd it. It helped that I was wearing my Sanfords and a nice suit, i think.

Yeah...I got the tone that they preferred not to rather than they couldn't, but I did not want to push the issue. It also didn't help that I wasn't in a nice outfits walking in (I was the only customer there) talking about seconds

Here's how it went down for me: I emailed AE customer service (just the email address from their website), and a few days later I got a reply from Edward, the manager of the Freeport outlet, saying I could mail them back or bring them to a retail store. I guess they forwarded the email to him? My store was good about it; I didn't get a receipt with my order, but they were able to look at orders from Freeport and find me.

So maybe the answer is "officially" you can return to the store, but it's up to local management. I guess best to call in advance.

Did anybody else notice the AE Wilbert in black in the Father's Day catalog page 18? I really like my brown Wilberts but never liked the previous black Wilbert due to the contrast stitching (no offense to anybody with the previous black Wilbert, just not my personal preference). The black Wilberts on page 18 have black stitching and I really like them. The website photo for the black looks like they just did a black and white of the brown shoe, but I'm guessing they are in the process of updating the black Wilbert with black stitching.
