Hey Guys,

I want to introduce a new collection of premium denim from Agave that will spike an interest to those who have in the past found Agave to be as what I heard them be referred to as Dads jeans.
This new collection captures all the attributes that one would find in the premium denim market.
The fit is a classic slim fit and the denim is raw.
I will admit that I am not as learned as most of you are about this quality, styling and fit but my eye tells me that Agave will now run with the others.

Here is some information and pictures I can share with you now and I will bring you more informaion as I get it. This is the model that we presently have.

Silver #31-164

Pragmatist - 9.5" Rise, Zip Fly, Classic Fit, Slim Leg. 17' Knee, 16.5" Leg Opening

Industrial Indigo - Hellenic, Greece, 10oz indigo denim, 100% cotton 3x1 right hand construction, resin coated fabric, stonewashed lightly to a dark indigo shade.

We have sizes 30> 38

The front pockets are low and easy to enter and yes, you are also observant that the coin pocket is larger than normal which makes it more functional than most.

I believe he is sincere. The pockets are indeed huge (and set really low) and the jeans, while nice in some respects, still have a heavy dad vibe.

The back pockets are fine. I like big pockets, like Nom de Guerre. I don't see how these are "dad jeans".

The pockets are large but seem no larger than the 3sixteen and placed similarly.

I don't really see any problem with the back pockets, or the design in general. My issue is that they are in such light denim. 10 ounces is practically a chambray. I like my jeans with some heft - at least 12 ounces, and 13 ounces+ if possible.

I took a look at the Agave website, and see that these must be a new model for SS10. From the look of the site and the stockists, it seems that the brand is catering to a more conservative client. I see that they are in a lot of doors, and from what you've told me, they do well with your customer. I can see why, but they are not really my thing. That said, it's a tough market, and if they've nailed down their niche, more power to them.

I think that it's hard to separate a product from the branding. Agave knew that it would alienate a certain customer when it chose its niche, or allowed itself to be placed the way it was placed (for example, in the traditional menswear section of Nordstrom.) This new product still caters to the Nordstrom customer. For example, I would bet that the lighter weight denim is meant to be accessible to the guy who wears jeans on the weekend, is not really into jeans, but who wants to get a darker jean without the heaviness and stiffness that is associated with heavier weight, rigid denim.

Fok,

There are many choices of denim in this collection and I'm sure there are heavier ounce weights. This one is the one that appealed to me. As I said, when the pictures of the fabrics become available, I will post them with the pertinent information about each.
