Hand-made Henry Tompkins English Briefcase

Wonderful hand-crafted English leather briefcase made by Henry Tompkins. Used a total of three times. Wonderfully thick and rich dark brown leather with just a hint of burgundy. The texture and depth of the leather is amazing. English-made solid brass Cheney lock plated in a copper finish (matching the other solid brass hardware on the bag). Three main compartments with several interior organizer pockets for business cards, cell phone, etc. Zippered pocket on the back of the bag. Shoulder strap. This is simply a wonderful case that exudes quality and appears to be designed to last the next 25 years or so. Very classy. The bag can be carried and opened and shut without using the two front straps which makes it more convenient than some other bags. If you like the look of the Filson bridle-hide bag but want something just a bit more refined in appearance - this is your case. Thanks for looking!

Thanks for the kind words. Have been lusting over a Swaine Adeney dispatch case and thus the other cases must go. Now if I could just decide on color....

which one are you considering? It seems to me you had a sab at one point...

I did - very briefly - but did not keep it. Just ordered the smaller dispatch bag in a slightly darker London Tan (less orange) produced for Classic Luggage.

Good choice. As nice as the other two are there really isn't anything that compares to the SAB.

Since you sold that one, how does one get his hands on a Henry Tompkins without traveling to the UK?

Apologizes for bring back a long dormant thread. Id like to buy a HT satchel or "full monty" The price of shipping to the US these days is >100$ USD. Anyone have any suggestions not "custom hide" as leather sample i recieved was plasticky

Id buy the filson bit want a light color and slight bit lighter in weight.

thanks in advance for any suggestions

I bought this ht case on ebay. What I'd say is that while it's beautiful and I get a lot of compliments, the soft leather scratches easily (as opposed to the filson).

Which model did you get. Im looking at the satchel-briefcase hybrid or the full monty. Shipping costs are crazy. Why can filson make a tan colored field satchel

here is an update on this case. The stitches in the leather are all coming loose and frayed. I can no longer recommend this manufacturer. Just to be clear, Dob is a great seller, it's just the case has not held up as I'd have liked.

Dear vinouspleasure, as I was considering a briefcase by Henry Tomkins but came acrosse your post in this forum (thanks to Google) and am now wondering: "is this really worth it?" I have called Henry a month ago and he sent me some leather samples right away to choose a colour. It all seemed quite alright. Maybe you can enlighten me - btw, what does your bag look like? Regards, Tom
