Also, as much of a dork as you will look like, if you are not to wear golf shoes (not expected at all for a beginner) you ought to wear sneakers.

HAHAHA!!! You are right---I was very conflicted at first, but there is a certain aesthetic quality that I understood once I was staring down the fairway at the flag perfectly framed between giant trees and punctuated with electrical towers----Jersey, after all. I may continue golfing in my neighborhood, where it a lot less country-club and a bit more gritty

You can also have most high quality shoes resoled with golf soles. Extends your range beyond the typical ugly golf shoes.

So how much did you suck? Like, on average, how far over par were you?
