it's great not being fat, im 5' 11" and about 3 months ago i was at about 195ish but after waterpolo im down to 180ish (not really a big difference in weight) but i got way more toned, and a great tan to boot

polo rocks. scrimmaging and games will do wonders because its nonstop sprints (and some treading), and you can't be lazy or else your team'll get stuffed fast.

another benefit is the reduced pressure on your knees. a fellow over at wake forrest, messier I think, has been studying the effects of weight loss on knee joints. so far this sentence has been popping up "The loss of one pound in weight reduced the pressure on the knee by four pounds." Imagine how thankful your joints must be ! I gained somewhere near 15-20 pounds over the past year, but have since mid july fallen down to 180 from 193, standing at 5'11. Soccer several times a week plus hitting the gym. Although weight-lifting skews the loss because we all know muscle weighs more than fat.

I'm 5 feet 11 inches tall. At the start of the year I was 215-ish pounds, with a 40 inch waist. Realizing I needed to stop the madness, I started exercising 4-5 times a week and eating healthy. I prepare my own meals most of the time, and when I eat out I find something healthy on the menu.

I'm now 177 lbs, with a 33 inch waist and a much more proportional body. The difference is amazing! My eventual plan is to get down to the mid 160's and then add some muscle, but I realized a short while ago that I'm not "fat" anymore. How about that!

Anyway, I can't believe how good I feel. If you've been on the fence about trying to lose weight, you should do it. Throw yourself into it for a month, and you'll be amazed at how much better you feel. Start Oct. 1. Heck, start today and you'll be 4 days ahead of the game when Oct. 1 rolls around. Start now, and think of how good you'll look at Christmas! When other people are making their New Year's resolutions, you'll be 3 months in. It's really not that hard, and the results are better than anything money can buy.

But if you do want to spend money... It's much more fun to buy clothes when you don't need to buy Large or X-Large stuff! When your legs can actually fit into a pair of jeans and not get stopped by massive thighs.

Do it! You will bloody love it.

Bob

^^^ someone got pwnd.

I'm looking to get back to 165 or so. Hovering in the low 170's at the moment, from 180 or so a few months back. Want to get racing thin again, soon.

Maybe I need a race on the schedule.

That said, being 6' 180 sure beats being 5' 180 like I was in middle school.

When I graduated from high school I was 6' 135. That wasn't too great either.

Congrats, man.

Glad to hear it.

Now I just need to drop down to 140, and I'll be good.
