I feel the same about Santoni shoes as Matt, Z and Andre - their attraction seems entirely superficial, no depth, no soul. Andre hit the nail on the head. There's one feature that I consider rather off-putting as well. What's these machine printed numbers on the lining? Machine printed numbers "fatte a mano"? DOH? They maybe have been hacked "a mano" into the computer that controls the printer. And what's with that fake handwriting logo? These shoes simply don't feel as if they are for real.

I like some of the Santoni models but some of these above are quite garish.

They seem to be a caricature of everything that can go wrong with Italian Design.
To me the shoes are theatrical, excessive, exaggerated in their "style"and overly antiqued.
For an example of the many Italian vendors which produce elegant, tasteful footwear,
Marini in Rome is a good place to start:

The same site has others of the same caliber

For some nice Santoni shoes, go back a couple of years. Too many of the current models have "ugly" toes

Santoni do make some more British-looking shoes, and I like those--excellent leather. But I really dislike pointy Italian shoes.
