Good Steaks in Boston?

Where is a good spot in Boston to pick up some good, thick, quality ribeyes? I am stuck at Whole Foods, looking for a reasonably priced source for some thick steaks.

For filets, or whole tenderloins, I shop at Costco. I stopped liking their NY strips a while ago and have not tried them in a few years. We don't eat steak all that often, and yes I buy the occassional ribeye at Whole Foods, too.

As far as WholePaycheck stores, only on 2 occasions was I able to score decent ribeye there. Which was @ the Fresh Pond location.
The meat came from different ME organic farms, as I recall.
Costco beef is pretty unexceptional. No idea who they're kidding with all that restaurant-grade-product drivel.
If you wanna buy raw meat prepped by professionals rather than some stoner who couple weeks prior was working a tire counter @ Sears, go to Russo's.

I've never bought meat at Russo's but thanks for the tip -- will do so! We end up there pretty often due to youth hockey at the rink next door. Russo's cheese selection and service is quite nice too.

What about Savenor's?

Essayez le restaurant Steak Vox situé à son domicile.

Mention SF and get a 20% discount.

John Dewar in Newton Center, River Rock Farm (available at farmers markets), and Savenor's.

You oughta warn the guy what to expect as far as pricing @ those joints.
Bone-in Filet Mignon @ $31.99/lb from John Dewar

I was in there yesterday and the filet was on sale for $28.99/lb. I did miss the "reasonably priced" caveat in the original post...

Just out of curiosity I made a stop @ their Newton location earlier today.
Basically a shoebox of a joint split into two.
The whole time I was there the two idiots behind the counter of an empty store seemed to exhibit less than zero interest toward me.
In other words, it was your typical Boston retail experience
What takes the biscuit, though, is pricing in the $30s of a beef that came from cattle raised on genetically modified corn, shot up with synthetic hormones and antibiotics.
Is this a joke ?
