Why do energy drinks give me the urge to take a crap?

A particular ingredient? Just curious...

Sitting here drinking one and figured i'd ask.

Maybe its like coffee - which has a natural laxative side effect.

The worst I've ever had to go was when I drank an Amp energy drink on an overnight trip from Charlotte to NYC. I think I drank the thing around 5am and almost lost it a couple of hours later on the Jersey Turnpike. Never again. Falling asleep at the wheel would have been nothing compared to the agony I was in.

Polyols are also a laxative and most energy drinks are sweetened with these. Combine that with caffeine...

I have a 3yr old and i've had to cut back on my sailor mouth a bit, sorry if it made you uncomfortable to hear the word poop. Just be glad i didn't say doo doo or potty. Yeah.

And it wasn't a 100% serious thread, so i wasn't worried about sounding manly about taking a dump or the reasons behind it.

When i'm hanging with my friends, of course i say i gotta shit.

Drank a whole colada (cuban-style black coffe. strong) before a 2 hour physics seminar today. Had a gyro in my stomach also. Halfway through I was like fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
