Accidental wine

Came across this article on Valetmag about a site that sells wine cheaply because of damaged labelling. The valetmag article is here:

Thought it may be of use to those in the US as I doubt they ship to Oz. Are the deals any good?

They seem to have a lot of other reasons for selling off odd lots, such as "overproduction."

My initial read is that there are few to none truly good wines in there simply because 'the label got damaged.'

And it appears that we're buying blind. The options are to order "red," "white," or a "surprise."

Two of my good friends used to live near a store that specialized in these type of wines. Often the labels were damaged or stained. Equally as often, the wines were no good. And on the one hand, the cost was very low, but one the other (and IMO more important) you wasted time & effort on a bad wine.
