Short Leather Jacket (can shirts hang lower?)

I have a question....

How should a short leather jacket be worn?

I just got an Aero half belt leather jacket, and there is one thing I am concerned about.
I like wearing button up shirts, tshirts, polos, etc. without tucking them in.
The problem is that the bottom of the shirts hang lower than the Aero jacket.
My gut says this looks ridiculous.

What do you guys think?

Should the short leather jacket always cover over the shirt I'm wearing under it?

your gut spoketh the truth.

Yes. It should hit right at your hips. Anything hanging below will give you a nice ballerina dress look.

Unless you are very fashion forward it's a bad look.

Agree, the shirt should not hang below the jacket.

PS I am waiting on my second Aero, it should be here sometime in early winter 2009.

That disappoints me..

Maybe I should have gotten a longer jacket like the hercules or long half belt.
Can't do anything about it now..

I spent $650 on that jacket and can only wear it sometimes.
All of my t shirts and sweaters hang lower than the jacket, and the only time I tuck in my shirt is for work.

Any suggestions on how I can wear it?
the jacket falls rigth below my belt line.

More often than not, yes.

No offense meant but I would strongly suggest tucking in your shirts, and not just at work. It makes for a cleaner appearance anyway.

Tuck in your shirt. An untucked shirt hanging lower than the jacket looks sloppy. I don't care how comfortable it feels; it looks like a mess.

I shouldnt tuck in my shirt, even when dressed casually?

With my aero jacket, the shirt hangs lower than the jacket even with a shirt like this

I'm fine with the untucked shirt look when just wearing jeans and kicking it casually. Whatever. Some here may disagree, but I'm fine with it. When wearing a short jacket, though, you should tuck in the shirt. Hell, when wearing a jacket at all, you should tuck in the shirt. It's just a cleaner and better look.

I am in the minority here, but I am totally fine with a patterned shirt hanging out below a leather jacket. Girls tend to sport this particular look a lot, but I think it is fine with men as well.

I think it depends on the jacket, and the look you are going for. In terms of classical menswear, I definitely wouldn't, but if that is the desired look you are going for I doubt the jacket would be incredibly short to begin with. One of the short jackets in my wardrobe is the 'racing blouson' by belstaff pictured below.

It is more of a casual streetwear jacket, and although some shirts look a little odd when they hang below it, most look totally fine. The rule is a rule because it applies to most cases, but there are always exceptions. Try something on, and take a look in the mirror. If the mirror says it looks good, then it looks good.
