Small Timer coping mechanisms

All of us that have to work for a living are basically slaves, or to put it politely, Small Timers. I've thought of 4 ways to make this bitter truth more palateable. 1. Work in a job you actually like (normally involves many other compromises - financial / hours / commute etc). 2. Working for others - You get up every morning to provide for your family, care for your sick relatives or a new annexe for the cat sanctuary. 3. Work in a job that pays as much as your abilities could reasonably be expected to bring in with the minimum stress and inconvenience to yourself (aside from having to get up in the morning to spend half your waking hours doing something you'd rather not be). 4. Dropping out. Living from benefits, charity, crime or gambling. I'm following path number 1 at the moment. Anything I've missed until my lottery numbers come up?
