Where is the bottom?

Why is it that just when you feel that your life can't suck any more and that you can't get beat down any farther ---

Something comes along, pulling that perceived bottom out from under you, and beating you down even further?

Sorry for the pity party. I am just trying survive the roughest week of my life. Damn does it suck.

Some people take solace in the fact that life could be much worse, like starving in a third world country, but I think the opposite. The horror of life is that there is no bottom, only death.

I went through a phase almost four years ago now that felt just like what you are describing. I even dreaded going to the mailbox, fearful of what fresh hell the postman would bring that day. I found someone professional to talk to, and worked my way back to my own version of reality and happiness. It was not a fast process, but it has been successful. Go talk to someone regularly. Do not let this spiral any further into the depths.

It happens. It will get better. Try to take comfort in realizing that it probably isn't as bad as you think.

lot of the time when people are hitting bottom is because of financial circumstances. either things out of their control, or mistakes they made.

these things come in onslaughts but just keep taking the step forward. work it everyday. you take one step forward, the onslaught comes again, and pushes you back like 200 or 300 steps back. you take a step forward again that day...

after awhile the onslaughts stop, but you should keep taking that step forward EVERY day. dont give in. eventually you will pull yourself out of it and will be many steps ahead.

it is giving up and just plain stopping is what makes most people who get into financial mess STAY in a financial mess the rest of their lives.

dont compare yourself to others, dont keep up with the 'joneses', dont look over the green on the other side of the fence. these things only dissapoint.

just look at what cards youve been dealt and work that from there.
trust me, youve been dealt a little but you make the best you can and take a step forward everyday is much more admirable
than the guy who was dealt alot, but didnt do shit but just boasted all his life.

Hey if you think about it ......; long enough then any rational individual would conclude that "existence" is hell. So , on that "cheerful" note I would argue that death is not part of "horror of life" . Death is an inevitable end of suffering and therefore should be viewed as a happy and liberating event.

i have gone through the toughest year financially speaking i've had since i was first married and my son was firstr born, but we are trying to realize that there are those who have it far worse. we love each other, have a home still and food on the table. unless you are born into total comfort (and even then in many cases) everyone will have tough times it seems.

Such is the miserable slog we call "life." [/depresshun]

But the ultimate irony is that you're not alive to enjoy it or the moments preceding it. I can only imagine that my final moments will be sheer terror, due to my sense of self-preservation taking over and flailing helplessly.

i embrace the eventual coming of death to tell you the truth.

i think the only thing that horrifies me is if i were to be inflicted alot of pain right before death. like accidentally getting my head lopped off by some machinery or being grinded up accidentally by some tree grinder.

other than that, i would embrace death.
