eBay "Final Value" fees... WTF? - Page 2

Quick question, I just listed and sold my first thing on ebay. Is this closing fee just removed automatically when the person pays you, billed at the end of the month to your paypal, etc...

Ebay sends out monthly invoices to sellers. You have the option to pay by PayPal or other means (you also can set up automatic PayPal payments for your monthly ebay fees).

Half of my $23 in fees were for an item that was sold to a buyer who bitched out on me.

Do not forget that PAyPAl charges you (is it 4%?) on that final value fee... when your buyer pays you

These two companies must die.

I would free Ted Kozinski for a week just to see them bombed.

I think the 4% for paypal is pretty reasonable. But the final value fee for ebay is ridiculous. After you pay your listing fee, final value fee, and paypal fees your looking at like 20%. That's just not fair. Ebay has a monopoly basically on the market so they can do whatever they want but it sucks. I just sold a bunch of stuff on ebay and had $100 bill that I just had to pay. I wonder if they charge a final value fee if you sell a car or something. You could pay thousands just in final value fees. On top of that my last couple buyers didn't give me any feedback. And I did free shipping and shipped the day the listing ended. Assholes.

Why would you do a long distance transaction over craigslist?

Maybe if you're in a small market? I don't see my clothes being a hit in Maine.

I'm really low volume seller, but I've noticed a steep increase in buyer flake outs since they got rid of the buyer feedback. As in, I've sold 15 things and had 6 people just never responded. What really kills me is that neither ebay or paypal have any sort of customer service to speak of, a really shady buyer tried to pay me for something with a stolen paypal account (I suspected, and was proved right) I reported it to both paypal and ebay, and it was almost two weeks before they got back to me about it.
