Nice Modern House in Bay Area - Page 2

Needs a bicycle seat rocker. Maybe a stuffed armadillo. Or better yet, a stuffed squirrel on the wall. Too many sharp edges where a kid could fall and poke his/her eye.

Not enough wood for me. Give me wood (a lot), white (a lot), steel (some) and brick (some) and I'm a happy camper. Gigantic glass walls and blinding natural light are IMO quite overrated. The all-white bathroom is quite appealing to me but impractical so perfect for a guest bathroom. Kitchen is plain fugly.

I agree about gld's point, I prefer more wood (such as the example he posted a few weeks ago).

I love the master bedroom, the lack of ornate fluff is excellent, just the bed, the lounge chair with yellow light (I really need to get me an Eames chair), 2 small tables, and a marvelous view outside. Personally I don't see the need for much more.

I don't dislike the all-white bathroom. I hate one that are all black.

It does have aspects of being a little dull, but I much prefer precise and dull to cluttered and disjointed. IMO it has far more personality than 95% of the stuff that people pull out of interior decorating books and I genuinely appreciate the resistence to "this seems rather boring - so lets add a fake painting of Tuscany!"

Quite dull. Like a mediocre architecture student's first year project.

I too love wood.

Here's the (filthy) library in the new house

Man, I bet your cats are going to love that.

The bedroom is my favorite part, but that's mainly for the simplicity and focusing on the views. For 3.5 million, it's too cookie/cutter.

It took three years just to get construction permits.

I imagine that was infuriating. I'm sure it raised the property value of the area too.

The white bathroom is the only room I like.

This is a little too much wood, even for me. Let's hope you can balance this with light and airy furniture, and not bulky chesterfields.

This is what I'm talking about, and they're even for sale!

Not a fan of the LA house. The pool area looks just like a high school building. Except with a pool.
