No, you realize that writing is a slow process of 5% talent and 95% hard work, where you have often to suppress your creative "flourishes" in order to understand the overall structures, patterns, and genres. There is a reason why very few 18-19 year olds write staggeringly wonderful, mature pieces of literature. You need time to match your experience with your self-styled technical virtuosity.
It's just that schools now teach high school kids that every dripping from their pen is pure gold. Basically, forget EVERYTHING you learned in high school and start from scratch. You might think your college writing teacher is just trying to hurt your feelings, but he/she probably knows his/her stuff. Give it a chance and learn from his/her experience.
