yeah, biz is getting better so we are living like worst-case scenario for now in hopes of stockpiling some cash. and maybe my wife will finally find a gig soon.

i love this movie , Where God Left His Shoes , with John Leguizamo. i watched that and it is just what a family does to survive in their own realistic way. feel so blessed after watching it. i highly recommend it

If I lost my job, we'd be okay... but we'd exist on staples from the grocery store and have to find ways to entertain ourselves. my wife would be okay, but i'd get super bored and depressed.

Probably 5-10 years but I live an extremely conservative lifestyle at the moment. I'm not planning on being this frugal much longer.

Interesting question. I have my very first annual review on Monday, so I might be finding out very soon .

I've saved up about 6 weeks worth of pay in the year which I am planning to use to get my teeth fixed. If it came down to it I could probably stretch that out to 8 or so. I would have to give up the gym and my night classes though.

Quite a while. I don't work this hard so I have to worry about meeting expenses any time in the near future.

I have to give a little respect to those people who live on the edge, I just do not have the mental makeup to do it. It's the cheapskate, tin foil hat wearing country boy in me.

Wouldn't make it very far at all. Just out of school and poor.

I think thats a really good idea to live as inexpensively as possible sometimes. I've done that from time to time and i'm amazed at what kind of money can stack up after a few months, but it does get boring. Right now I'm in that boat again, putting money away and being bored. If I cut my expenses down to a bare minimum I could probably go on for about a year or so, but I'd be pretty Kooky after a year of not doing anything, so I think more realistically I'd go about 3-4 months of my usual spending and I'd avoid any big purchases.

We have no mortgage, no car loans and no debt, and thanks to my wife's financial discipline and the fact that I am p&ssy-whipped and hand almost all of my salary over to her every payday, we've got enough in the bank to keep us going for about four years, if I had to stop work. It's a nice feeling, although I do sometimes wish that I had more spending money!
