I would change immidiatly. I could survive 3-6 months.

a few years ago my company laid off a bunch of people, and I was in no danger, I still made a bunch of changes until things got better. I am a coward about that stuff.

3 - 6 months as well. If I stopped eating out and buying clothing, probably 12 months.

1,5 years.. when changing perhaps double.

We keep a minimum of one year cushion in an emergency account. Could easily stretch that out far longer if we cut back on lifestyle.

Hope you have some good short and long term disability. I have both written into my employment contract. I know you're a sole proprietor. All the more reason for this insurance IMO.

^odor, upon further review I think I could float more like 1.5 months if it makes you feel any better. and that's if I were to pay mortgage, car, groceries, insurance and ignore my cc bills.

As long as mommy and daddy keep writing the checks I can float forever.

probably 6 months, but that would be liquidating all investments and still belt-tightening

Don't you mean "mummy"?

I can float for about 6 or 7 minutes on my back but then I get tired.

Less than that in the ocean.

The salt content doesn't let you float more? If it were in calm gulf or sea would this help? Do you use survival floating techniques like keeping your legs under your torso and using your pants as a life vest? BTW it is actually possible to use your pants as a life vest PM me for more details.
