Do you wish you lived in a different era?

Do you ever wish you lived in a different era? I know someone who's commented to me a few times they wish they were living in the '70's when houses were cheap, work was (seemingly) less stressful and jobs were for life.

Personally I couldn't imagine living in any other era in the past, everything was too slow, too limited, no internet. I'd go crazy.

I want to experience late 90s again, but as and adult (I was in my preteens then). It was bliss compared to now.

The era where people were striking oil in the western US and killing each other over it, seems like it would be a blast.

I guess this marks me as an optimist, but I'd choose the future over now.

Actually as long as I have a vietnam era PT boat, access to a large store of guns, a few gullible but strong-as-fuck henchmen with jet-skis, and at least 12 hot chicks for my harem i'm fine surviving in the everglades for my apocalypse. I choose future for the win-win.

Edit: Also lifetime supply of hair supplies for the mohawks, liberty spikes, and other such crazy hairstyles.

I'd like to live back in the 50's, with Manton. Wait a minute, I did live in the 50's. But Manton just talks like he did. Maybe that's why I think he's so fucked.

Other than the possibility of longer lifespan, what are you looking forward too about the future? I think if you're living in a developed country right now, life is pretty good, and any future improvements will be marginal. For example, my great grandma once took a boat journey somewhere that was 4 months round trip, which to me is unimaginable. Now I can cover the same distance in a 8 hour flight. Even if they invent something that can teleport me instantly, am I really in that big a hurry?

I couldn't imagine living in another age, except perhaps the future. Mankind's recent history has been an upward trend; past eras have had their charms, certainly, but we're much better off living now than we would have been then.

I am unsatisfied with any past era, including the present. I'd like to roll the dice and see what the future holds.

Well, yes. I wanna be able to duel. Also lead my peers into the battle. On horseback.

I think the 70s was a very interesting and decadent period.

If I could have turned 16 in 1977, that would be just about right - just old enough to experience punk firsthand, then I get hardcore and college/indie-rock in the '80s. If I were in NY, rent is still affordable and there are revival houses where I can experience classic cinema on a big screen instead of a Blu-Ray player. Film is cheap and widely available, there are options for renting darkroom time if you don't own one. Cheap automatic firearms!!!! In reality, I'm probably happier experience film and music in the way I've done it, and I couldn't live without easy and constant access to whatever information I need.
