i just had 4 wisdom teeth out about 48 hours ago. ive mostly just been mash potato and rice, the rice is pretty good if you put some curry sauce or something in it. so far its not as bad as i thought though, not to much pain but thats probably cos of all the meds. i have a problem taking pills, i just always gag on them and can never get them down so i got liquid pain killers which makes things a bit easier. should be on solid food in a few days. im dying for a steak

i think the antibiotics taste the worst. just never can get the bad taste out of my mouth

I was lucky that mine didn't hurt at all afterward and I didn't have any painkillers either. I was awake for them removing them (including two that were surgically removed) but had the benefit of a generous supply of happy gas and a nice smooth jazz cd to listen (love having a happy dentist!). Depending on how well the dentist yanks them, I think the swelling can be greatly reduced. I wouldn't skimp out and go to a cheaper/old fashion dentist. Find a modern, upscale happy dentist and you'll be fine for having them removed. When I compared my new dentist to the assholes I went to as a kid, they were downright barbaric. I was eating kraft mac a couple hours after having mine removed and chicken that night, steak the day following.

I had all four removed and was eating solids by the next day. Fresh mozzarella is is decently soft and can make a good meal.
