Seriously thinking of getting the 4x4, CrewCab Max, Limited, with the honking 5.7L.

Discuss.

Almost bought one instead of a Dodge, but Dodge came in several thousand cheaper for everything I needed.

It's very nice, but I remember the cabin as being a bit cramped if you're tall.

That won't be a problem, as I don't quite scrape the 6' mark. And yeah, it's a tad expensive, for a pick up. Dressed the way I'm looking, just under 50k.

I drove behind one the other day and thought to myself: what an ugly ass truck. Quality wise, it's a Toyota, so you know it's pretty much bulletproof.

Yeah, the new Gen is ugly, but I really dug the 1st gen, plenty of power and handled great for a truck.

I own an '05 Tundra Access cab. Love it. Comfortable w/ plenty power. Only my Nazi car is more comfortable to drive. Not as fond of the new look, but that's the way trucks are looking following the big Dodge Ram look. Forget gas mileage! Probably better than mine, but that's not saying much. When I bought mine, I was the only Toyota where I work. Now it's the overwhelming most popular truck. Never heard a complaint from any of the owners.

Have driven the new Tundra. Great truck. Would buy it if I was in the market. As comfortable, better mileage, etc. And Toyota service has been superb.

Note: I drove nothing but Ford trucks before. They're still an excellent product, but I like my comfort and Toyota has it.

I tow a 21' boat behind it from time to time and there's plenty of power to spare. The new one's have even more, so if that's a need, there shouldn't be any problems. Biggest problem w/ the '05 was the inability to get trailering mirrors. That's fixed, too.

I know this sounds like a commercial, but I have no relationship w/ Toyota other than as a satisfied customer.

Incidently, buy at the end of the month, when the sales managers need to put numbers on the board. I used Consumers Report service to get true cost. Added $100 and drove off w/ what I wanted. Got more for my trade than expected.

Don't talk trade until after you get your price, they're only going to give you wholesale - everything else is a discount off of sticker, so don't let that muddy the waters.

Know what you can get $ for before you go in, that's negotiable at the dealer, too.

Don't get extended service unless it comes from Toyota itself. Don't get life & disability (choke & croak).

Probably a lot more than you wanted to know. Sorry.

We've got the SUV version of the Tundra -- the '08 Sequoia Limited. It's a tank but it carries the (big) family with ease and all our stuff. It has a very good turning radius but it is still very big and takes getting used to in town/city driving. The engine is very powerful. Gas mileage is lousy -- @17 on highway and @10-11 in city driving -- but, it has an enormous gas tank, so we go quite a while between fill-ups. Long distance driving is a breeze, particularly with the rear DVD system when kids are along. Very comfortable.

My dad has been a Chevy or GMC truck owner since... well... FOREVER and earlier this year he switched over and got exactly one of these... a brand new, gigantic silver thing that is bigger than my apartment in Japan. He loves it and isn't sad at all that he made the switch. Edit: btw, in KY and TN, a big, gigantic fancy-schmancy truck is basically the vehicle of choice. There are no Mercedes, BMW, etc... but a lot of $50K trucks driving around. Anyway, hitherto, all were Ford or Chevy, but lately, lots have switched to the big Nissan one and the Toyota. My dad gets more compliments on his Toyota now and more interested-parties/questions from Chevy owners than with any vehicle he's ever had.

I have been a passenger on long-distance trips in a Tundra and it was very nice. That was in Western Canada and the Pacific NW.

I still remember the T-100 that is were it all started. Great truck. So as Tacoma.

I've got a 2006 4x4 Tundra and I love it. Extremely reliable. Only problems I have with the new ones are they look like a hybrid bus

Is this for functionality or just because you want a pick up?
