Favorite Place To Stay at North Shore Tahoe?

I have an anniversary coming up and was thinking of Lake Tahoe's North Shore. I haven't been there in years and never with my wife. Any recommendations where to stay for a few nights? We will probably want to drive around a lot.

How is the Resort at Squaw Valley?

I probably posted too early. Anyone back from Tahoe yet?

I'm extremely partial to Incline Village. It's on the Nevada side of the lake, is near Ski Incline, and is just a beautiful part of the country. The Hyatt there is pretty sweet, in terms of ammenities, and it's not far from South shore (30 minute drive) or the west shore. And really anywhere you stay you can get to somewhere else on the Lake in 90 minutes or so.

Incline is also a good spot if you want to drive up to Mt. Rose and go hiking, or wander out to Thunderbird Lodge or to any of the cool hikes on the Nevada side.

Squaw always felt like it was a bit too far from the Lake.

Have fun!

After some input and PM's we decided to stay at Sunnyside resort just south of Tahoe City. It has about 22 rooms, is an old lodge property and is right on the lake. We plan to go for cocktails at Incline village on the floating pier /bar at sunset. I also got some great suggestions for hikes, including the Rubicon Trail down to the mouth of Emerald Bay.
