PSA: C&J for Brooks Peal captoe boots & NEW STYLES and BF cashmere

I went to the Brooks Brothers "Warehouse Sale" at 346 and bought these C&J/Peal boots. They're great. Dark tan scotch grain, Dainite soles, made in England by Crockett & Jones on the 240 last. They're basically the Conniston on a different last. Originally $548 from Brooks. If you're in NYC, they're $216.66 at 346.
  • Black calfskin, Dainite sole, C&J (240 last) captoe boots, like the pair above but regular black calf (not scotch grain). Beautiful. Sizes 7 - 13.
  • Black captoe oxfords. Leather sole. Sizes 7 - 13
  • Burgundy pebble grain plain toe blucher, Dainite sole. Sizes 7 - 13
  • Black pebble grain plain toe blucher, Dainite sole. Sizes 7- 13
  • Tan snuff suede plain toe blucher, Dainite sole. Very nice. I considered getting a pair but I already have them in a darker brown. Sizes 7 - 13
  • Made in the U.S.A. Reddish tan penny loafer. Sizes 7.5 - 12
  • Dark brown and white wingtip spectators. A very nice spec. Sizes 8.5 - 13
  • Suede kiltie tassle loafers, if that's your thing. Sizes 8 - 12

Very nice boots and a very nice offer from one of SF's most gentlemanly members. I live in NYC, so I don't need a proxy, but I think I deleted the BB email about the Warehouse Sale. When does it end?

These are great. I have a pair in the closet.

$274 is as low as they went in the BB clearance sale a year or so ago. Then you had pay tax and shipping too.

The fit is true to US size. The current Coniston comes on a different last, for what that's worth. This last is pretty neutral but maybe somewhat deep at the ankle -- good for moderate to high arches. If you have flat feet or delicate ankles, you might need to lace them closed all the way.

The leather is excellent, and the brown color is great. The sole edge is not at all clunky. People will mistake them for shoes.

Good chance for anyone who needs a brown winter boot.

Sale ends on Monday the 21st. 4th floor of 346, like last time. They still have a bunch of Fall 2007 Black Fleece stuff, although mostly larger sizes. Some good deals on Brooks outerwear, like a suede collared Loro Piana camelhair overcoat for $299

Can anyone else chime in on the fit of the 240 last? Seems to be a C&J last made for Peals? I did some searching but didn't get a definitive answer.

Does anyone know what the sizing on this last is like? I'm an 11E on the 337 and a 12D in the Polo Marlow.

They're not a Peal exclusive last. The Grasmere is on the 240: http://plal.com/main/index.php?page=...e-rubber-soles As far as fit, they seem a little generous in the toe to me. Maybe a 1/4 size large, but since they're the type of boots I might wear with thick socks, and the high ankle holds the foot, it works for me. I'm a 9D in most everything and a 9D in these.

Wow, tempting. Any 13? Also, did you happen to see that charcoal gray (actually a bit lighter than charcoal, w/o pinstripes) black fleece suit in a BB-5 there? I'd be happy to pay a a proxy fee.

I didn't see for sure, since I had the bright idea that you guys might want to buy them long after I left the sale. But I am going back tomorrow for at least one pair. If anyone will definitely take them in a specific size (say, 13D), let me know. It's final sale at the sale, too, and I don't want to be stuck with anything.

On the suits, they definitely had some Black Fleece size 5, from the Autumn 2007 line. There may have been a plain gray flannel in that size, but I'm not sure.
