not neccesarily japanese. if you have the cash for it, a porsche boxter or cayman(whatever you can afford) or bmw z4 is nice. just when someone says 'weekend car', it invokes the image of 'convertible roadster' in my mind. but it all comes down to personal preference and how much you are willing to spend. If you like older bmws, go ahead.

It is nice to see. I always like to see a mint E30 cab or Porsche 944, which have reached the price point where most people don't bother to keep them up anymore. The E36 BMWs are on the way, and I'm seeing a lot of scruffy 986 Boxsters nowadays.

My weekend (spring,summer, and fall only) car is a 92 Mercedes 500SL. I will try to get photos.
It's looks like this:



I'm thinking about painting the gray bottom black? I have mixed feeling about getting away from the original look.

I'd keep it original.

I'd paint it - I hated that trend on Mercedes-Benzes in the 90s. What's even worse is Lexus blindly copied it.
