Odd, but Amazing Grace always makes me cry. They played it at my dad's funeral, as they carried him out of the church. It's never left me.
Good call. I've played this at many funerals, and it always makes people cry.
Even before I saw this post, I was going to post a bagpipe youtube. Bruce Gandy playing one of the most famous, and certainly saddest, piobaireachd ever written:
The Gaelic for the title is Cumhadh na Cloinne. Patrick Mor MacCrimmon, one of the best of the famous MacCrimmon piping clan, had eight grown sons when a raging fever hit their town, and seven of his sons died. He wrote this to express his grief. This is just the ularor "ground" of the song. In piobaireachd you start with the ground, do a number of iterations, then end with a restatement of the ground.

The End -- The Doors
Jeremy -- PJ
A few Boards of C songs
Angel -- Massive Attack
Glory Box -- Portis Head
Wondering Outloud -- Jethro Tull
Mercy Street -- Peter Gabriel
Man in the Box -- AIC (such a dark sound)
When Dolphins Cry -- Live
The most heart wrenching of all songs I have ever heard:
Lament for the Death King George V
I am not kidding. It is on iTunes, search John Turner artist, Wanderer's Lament album. At least listen to the preview. If that doesn't give you a chill, you're not human.

Some good calls in there. Olson by Boards of Canada gets me.
