What is the best Creed fragrance?

What is the best Creed fragrance...lets limit it to the Millesime ones. Obviously this is just personal preference. I just bought Silver Mountain Water as I am almost out of Royal Water...I have had Original Vetiver Millésime Imperial and Green Irish Tweed. I have read that Silver Mountain Water does not last that long...but how can I tell?...I have had it on now for 5 hours and just got back from some light jet-skiing and I can still smell it on my skin.

Your cologne has enhanced because of body heat from jet skiing, the best test is go to the store, spray it on your arm, hours (5-8) later of normal activity should give you an accurate test of the scent's longevity.

I went to Bloomingdales this morning, while i was there i tried Armani Code. keep in mind you don't have to try colognes what the intent to buy, but scout for future purchases.

I can smell SMW many hours after applying it. Another very tenacious Millesime is Original Santal. This one is better for cooler weather and has a vanilla cinnamon sandalwood scent to it. Lasts up to 14 hours on my skin.

Amongst the regular Creeds, I think Silver Mountain Water, Erolfa, and Jasmine Imperatrice Eugenie are the ones I find most pleasant. All things being equal, I think that Bois du Santal and Aubepine Acacia are perhaps my favorites... Bois du Santal is a stinky, perfect sandalwood and Aubepine is really an unexpected, off-kilter, lovely floral citrus that has an odd, sharp bit to it that keeps it very interesting. Least favorite: Cypres Musc, which smells to me like a wet, musty basement, GIT, Original Vetiver and MI are just too "boring" to me, Green Valley and Himalaya are too sweet, and Original Santal is just nasty... smells like Joop (AAAGH!) Anyway, Creed's are nice, but there are lots of wonderful houses out there that make good stuff more cheaply. If you are fairly new to fragrances, I would buy 3-4 lower priced classics than buy ONE bottle of $200 Green Irish Tweed. It would sort of be like running out to buy a $1500 pair of John Lobbs out of the gate, instead of buying three pair of $500 C&J's in three different styles and colors.

Millesime is potent enough to be noticed by others long after you think it's gone. I prefer Green Irish Tweed, but I use it so minimally that after an hour or so I only catch a hint of it every now and again. Even with that small amount, my wife can still notice it at the end of the day.

I am not new to fragrances...I have had a lot but I am done with eau de toilette's which comprises just about 95% of the fragrances out there. I do not wear the stuff often so I always find that I am throwing away the eau de toilette's as they go bad after a couple of years where the Creed Millesimes get better as they get older.

Erolfa is probably my favorite aquatic scent I've ever tried.

There are actually quite a few Eau de parfums out there from many of the better companies... it's just that often they don't get shipped to the USA. Guerlain, for example, usually does an "extreme' version of most of its men's offerings that have EdP concentration. I didn't mean to imply you were new to scent, but to other members who might read the thread and immediately want to drop $230 on a bottle of GIT or SMW thinking there was nothing else worth the time. As well, one can often find them on discount at places like scentiments. I would AVOID ebay for Creed, as there are fakes out there rampant. As for your EdT's going bad... where do you store them? A dark closet it good, or the back of a drawer in a dresser. You could also keep them in the crisper of your refrigerator. I have never had a fragrance go bad, even after many years. If they consistently are going bad for you... it may be an issue with how/where you are keeping them.

My preference would be to skip the whole line altogether and split the $200 between a few bottles. If you twisted my arm I'd say Bois de Portugal or Millisame Imperiale. Neither are really that great but they're the only ones I've tested that have lasted more than 2 hours or so on my skin.

The thing with Creeds is that they are all "pleasant". I've tried all of them pretty much and none had me thinking: "jesus I must have this in my life!" Factor in the prices and I just think why bother? I said Erolfa is my favorite aquatic, but I don't really like aquatics to start with. If you really want to buy Creeds, Costco's website has a few. There are much better houses out there (not talking about Bond no. 9 either haha)

I agree about "pleasant." Creed is very middle of the road, no-nonsense, guaranteed not to raise too many eyebrows. For that money, though, I want to be shocked, enthralled, made to do a double-take. That's one thing I like about Frederic Malle, for example... in that many of them are sheer "love it or hate it" scents. NOW, that being said, there are a few Creed surprises, though I didn't love these either. Try Ambre canelle, the aforementioned Aubepine Acacia, or Orange Spice. They can be downright foul/funky. As for lower cost sources, I've regularly gotten some 75 ml bottles/testers of SMW, OV, and MI for around $70-80 on Scentiments. As well, the juice is legit and fresh. I was lucky to be a customer once of Creedirect, who was cleaning out the excess stock from the original Creed distributor in the USA some years back. I was able to get nearly the whole Creed catalog in the large size bottles for about $40 a pop, including some of the rarer ones. Sadly, she sold out and moved on about 4 years ago. It was a nice way to try much of what Creed has to offer without paying an absolute fortune. I used the ones I liked, traded or sold off the ones I didn't.

^I'm curious which Vetiver he means... Creed has a few. Vetiver, Original Vetiver... I think there's a bayrum vetiver something-or-other as well.

I know Bvlgari does an "Extreme" , Tom Ford has a parfum. I have had Boucheron Jaipur before as a gift and it was awful but it was a parfum....I still like Creed...I know it is expensive...but there is nothing that I have found that I have actually liked better.
