Well? Some trailers and the parks they're in are quite nice. Trailers are very inexpensive, easy to re-sell if one needs to move, have all of the trappings of home, and one doesn't need a mortgage (you actually get a title).

A local trailer park has a pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, etc. It's a little more expensive, of course, but still much less expensive than owning a home and it's better than renting, no?

Right, cause it seems like you're going to have enough of a problem overcoming yourself...

Sewers > septic tanks. Nuff said.

Of course. This being Styleforum people will come with the usual nonsense but there is nothing wrong with living in a trailer and for some it makes a lot of sense. Just like with anything else not all trailers/trailer parks fit the general perception of inbred white trash and horror show wreckage.

Echo that, and
1. When you rent, you don't have to get rid of the place if you want to move. Trailer's value probably diminishes just like everything else.
2. Location - less choices.
3. How's sewage take cared of in trailers?
4. Maintenance (rental apartments: normally no out-of-pocket expenses)

Several years ago my dad owned a trailer on the ocean front in Laguna in a spot where a new 5 star resort currently resides. It was basically a house built around a double wide trailer. There is another park like that still in Laguna, and also Paradise Cove in Malibu. I'd happily live in any of those places. There are actually a lot of nice parks like that in spectucular locations. I'd live in a dumpy one too if I had to.

Trailers are hard to re-sell, just like condos. Also, in most parks, you don't own the land, but have to pay a monthly lot fee, just like a condo fee. The only financial sense they make, is the low price, relative to conventional homes.

I've seen some nice trailer parks dedicated to retired folks. Nice looking double wides, nicely kept grounds, social activities designed to appeal to the target market. I don't think it's a bad choice for some retirees. I could also see a nice trailer park designed as modest vacation cottages for folks.

They are not for me, but I think they can be enjoyable options for some folks. Not every trailer park looks like the one from 8 Mile.

That answer is easy. If there was one thing Bill Clinton taught the country was, you can always get laid in a trailer park.

on the bus today I saw a really, really, really nerdy guy (think conne) sitting next to an immensly fat redhead. at first I thought she was his mom, because she kept rubbing his head, and then she started licking his neck and I was like 'woah' and died a little inside
