SNS Herning- fits? - Page 330

Yup I've got the same message from the sight for the past couple days, not sure what's up.

Also I'll be heading up to NYC in a couple months, does anyone know of a B&M store that stocks SNS up there? Wondering if I should go ahead and order some stuff form END or wait and see if I can find anything in-store.

Feel like I should give my question a shot here again. I'm 5'5" but have a roughly 39" chest (I tend to stabilize at 38" every year). Would I even fit properly into a stark? or would it simply be too long for the width I would need?

Carson St. has carried them in the past--not sure they have Fall in yet.

Garglye has carried them as well.

Gentry in Brooklyn carries them.

I'm sure there are a couple others in there somewhere...

Anyone looking to trade for an Army Green Stark size Large in the new fit? I'd like a black or grey in a large.  Check my sig for details on the one I have available.

I emailed both Unionmade and Mr. Porter about their SNS Hernings offerings for this fall (mostly about Stark colors that they'll be carrying) and these were there replies:

Unionmade:

"

here are the colors we're going to have in stock (whenever they might make their way onto our webpage):

Black
Blue
Blue Static Mix (a blue melange, interspersed with another colored yarn)
Black Lake Mix (a black melange, interspersed with another colored yarn)
Silicium Noise Mix (a grey melange, interspersed with another colored yarn)

Hope this helps! And if you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out."

Mr. Porter:

"Thank you for your email.

We do apologise as we currently do not carry SNS Herning knitwear on
MRPORTER.COM.

As of now, this is not a confirmed designer however we can pass along this
feedback to our buying team.

We are beginning to upload our Fall items. Please note, we upload new
merchandise on MR PORTER every Tuesday. Be sure to view our items
by selecting the 'What's New'  on our website.

Additionally. please be sure to sign up for our emails so you are always
notified about new arrivals and promotions.

We hope this was helpful. Please let us know if we can further assist you"

Disappointed that Unionmade isn't getting anything in bordeaux/oxblood/burgundy...might Mr. Porter have decided to no longer carry SNS Herning, or are they just being tight-lipped?

I would not be surprised if Mr. Porter has decided to drop them.  Last season was my first with SNS and it was TOTALLY FRUSTRATING.  I tried one from END and had to send it back due to size (at quite a cost to me).  In the end I purchased an ION and STARK from Mr. Porter - after going through 3 different sizes (!) and who knows how many shipments.

I will most likely not purchase SNS this season (even though the Starks are beautiful).  Way too much hassle with sizing - and too risky to purchase from any overseas shops - leaving Unionmade as the only US based reseller (?).  I visited Carson St. Clothiers in Manhattan last weekend and although they were chock full of winter product there was no SNS to be found.  They did carry the line last season.

How difficult is it to produce properly fitting sweaters?  I am 5'10" and 175 and consistently take a 50 in Cabourn and a L in EG Bedford.  I ended up taking a XXL (thats right - double XL) in the Stark (from Mr. Porter  - the only one who stocked XXL) and a L in the ION.  Forget the Fisherman - tried every possible size - it simply does not fit.

Yeah I want to love my fisherman but it's just the wonkiest fitting thing ever. So tight in the armpits, no matter how much I size up.

Remember when SNS had consistent sizing?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Fisherman seems to be a great fit if you have this build: medium-broad shoulders/slimish chest/slim waist.*

Otherwise, not so good.

People should just not buy the Stark. It seems to mostly cause frustration. (6)

(*PM if you're looking for a medium in the full zip though!)

do you at least have an example of said build? i just dont fit into starks, because i have massive shoulders (17") for my height and a large chest (39") for my height (5'5"). that said i still realy want something with the yarn of that new red stark

At that height I would say don't even try the stark. They make other cardigans that might suit your frame better.

oh yah. i have tried them on in AB Fits in the past and they are like capes if they fit my shoulders and chest.

What size stark did you try? Was it new season?

Nah. last season and the M was still a bit tight in the shoulders and chest, but realisticly fit well enough there, but it made it ever aparent that I do have man boobs to some extent. I know they shortened them for this season and I'll probably check them out at unionmade when I go back home over winter break, but I'm not keeping my hopes up. Unfortunately, good knitwear is probably the single hardest thing for me to find in my size. atleast shirts I can get shortened (though it does get expensive)

Unfortunately being short and buff is like the polar opposite of who SNS designs Starks for.

I've seen a shortened Stark sold on ebay, looked decent from the pic. So if you really want a Stark, there's a way. Of course you'd need to find a really good tailor who could work with such a knit.
