SNS Herning- fits? - Page 245

This is my first time on this thread and I would like to provide some feedback as a, about to be,  first time SNS owner (current AW13 styles).

Let me preface by saying I am 5'10" and 170.

I ordered the ION in size L and it appears to fit well.

I have had nothing but grief with the STARK.  Size L was too tight - size XL still seems on the slim side.  When I compare the sleeves on the XL Stark with those of a L Ion the Stark sleeves are 1/2 the width !!!  I cannot stand tight sleeves on a wool sweater.

I now have an XXL coming in the Stark.  According to the Mr. Porter website there really is not much difference in the length of the back or sleeves on any of the Starks.  Size L is 25 long - the same length as the XXL.  The shoulder is 16 on the L while only 17 on the XXL.  The sleeve length on the L and XL are the same at 30.5 while the XL is 32.  To be honest there really does not seem to be that much a difference between the L, XL, and XXL at all  - at least according to Mr. Porters measurements.

Do Starks stretch out and become less tight?  Is it a negligible stretch or is it noticeable?

Thanks

Gregg

Hmm that's weird, I'm 5'9/145 (180cm/65kg) and S is the right fit for me, at least IMO.

Yeah curious as well....  I have nothing from this season... but my SNS Fisherman Full-zip is only a medium... and I am 6'4 180lb... don't get me wrong it's a slim fit (Similar snugness to what ippo2 posted with this stark) but it certainly isnt insanely tight... and after a month of wear has loosened up enough that I dont really find it 'snug' per se.

I am just really curious what an XXL Fits like on someone who is 5'9 as I was planning on getting a Stark in an L.  I wonder if the fit difference between seasons or specific pieces is really that big....

How big are your arms and shoulders?  And how tight is tight?  The Stark fits more slim than most S.N.S. Herning sweaters, but it's not *that* tight.  I am a bit bigger that you, at least on paper - 5'11" and 175 lbs, and the medium ion is right for me - not "slim" fit unless you are comparing it to 80s style, and a large would be way too big in the shoulders and arms.

It seems nearly incomprehensible how a 5'10", 170 lb guy would need an XL, much less a XX, unless you like your sweaters really baggy, and also have a huge upper body.

I consider myself a slim guy for my age group (early 50's) at 5'10" and 170lbs.  I have big/broad shoulders for my size (not muscular) and my arms are also not muscular.  I only wear slim fit jeans (Zara slims and now some Nudie Thin Finn size 34 waist).

I wear Cabourn size 50 Mallory and Engineered Bedford size L (to name some forum favorites)  - Barbour Tokhito size L (which are slim for Barbour) - Brooks Brothers Slim Fit shirts M - so I am not a big guy.  I like slim fitting things however both I, and my wife, found the Stark to be "form fitting" rather than slim.  I will be curious to see how the XXL fits.

One of the confusing things is that by looking at online measurements (specifically Mr. Porter) there really does not seem to be a large difference between a L and XXL.  I will let you know how the XXL fits as it is arriving tomorrow.  My wife thinks the Ion in Large fits perfectly (a touch bigger than slim) however just for curiosity I have a Medium also coming for comparison purposes.

I will say that the Ion in Oxblood is a beautiful piece - they really nailed the color.

Gregg

PS  Just how much - if any -  do the Starks stretch out ???

stop worrying about chest measurements, on thick stretchy stretchers measurements except length mean nothing and mr porter is not very accurate on any of these things anymore

you need to post pics of the fits your referencing because a lot of what you're describing seems non-sensical

I'm 6-3, 215, 44 jacket, and after some wear, my old XL stark is a comfy, not even fitted, fit. haven't tried the most recent stark, but even with some slimming referenced, can't imagine how you'd be a double X given your proportions. don't mean to sound like a dick, but if you're new to this stuff, it's possible you're not familiar with how stuff should actually fit

porter measurements are kinda shit, and even for vendors whose measurements are good, there's just no substitute for trying stuff on for yourself to see how it works. sometimes you just need to take a hit on shipping/returns to get sizing right

and yes, starks stretch a bunch
