Yes, the stark was originally a thick, workwear sweater designed for tall Nordic fishermen. But do you think people are buying the stark from their local Big And Tall Fisherman shop? No. The stark has been re-appropriated by people selling it as a fashion garment. People are buying them from fashion stores that have bought them after seeing them in showrooms displayed in a particular way.

So no, people are not wearing them "wrong", just like wearing combat boots in a streetwear outfit isn't "wrong". Clothes don't have to serve their original purpose.

I like the long stark but the new shorter one also looks good.

New stark fit, I'm only 5'7 this is a medium

can you button it without having it pull across your chest too much?

i'm about 5'-8", 145, 37" chest...trying to decide on what size.

if i understand correctly, the new starks fit shorter?  are there any other differences?  is there a way to guarantee i get a new stark when ordering from any certain websites?

40inch chest, button up is fine, not pulling but snug, I like it.

For your weight, height, and chest size, I'd suggest small. I'm 5'11, 150, 36 chest, and I went size small in AW12 Starks for a spot on fit.

The new Starks are found in certain exclusive colors that were for the most part unique to F/W 2012. I am fairly sure that all the mélange colors for example have new Stark sizing: That includes Triple Blue Mix, Army Green Mix, Tres Bien's special Indigo Blue Mix, Purple Melange, and I think Concrete. Other colors, such as Navy, Black, Brown, Clay, Olde Green, etc. are found in the old Stark sizing.

Thinking about buying some sns herning sweaters off this site in the market area but i have no idea what size i am. ive read they run slim, so maybe ill be a medium? im 5'7, 135 pounds.

I sized up on a SNS knit I bought recently and it was the best decision ever. Prior to this, I owned 3 Stark's in small, and while they fit fine, I much prefer the medium, which fits ever so slightly slouchy and the sleeve aren't as tight.
