SNS Herning- fits? - Page 172

Had the exact same thing happen to my Stark after wearing it just a couple of times. Took it to my tailor and got it fixed for $8. Haven't had a problem since and can't really even tell where the damage was.

Just got my first SNS Herning, from Hostem.co.uk.

A black/grey/charcoal Stark in small, wonderful piece of knitwear.

I'm 5'9" (175 cm), 161 lb. (73 kg), 41.3" chest, 18-18.5" shoulders, muscular build.
The small was tight, still a good fit, and looks good but just on the verge of being too small for my liking but with length and arms being just perfect though.
It's not the fit I would like this cardigan to have though, I want a bit looser fit so after trying it on for a while now I ordered a Medium right away.
Unfortunately I didn't have any measurements when I first bought it.

I found measurements for the Stark in medium on the web, and I just measured my small Stark myself with the garment laying flat, buttoned.
Below are the results.

Stark Small

• Pit to pit 18.8" - 47.5 cm
• Back 26.5" - 67 cm
• Shoulders 16" - 41 cm

Stark Medium

• Pit to pit 20" - 50.8 cm
• Back 28.5" - 71.1 cm
• Shoulders 17.5" - 44.5 cm

I will soon get my medium Stark and then I will have to decide which one to keep.
Judging by the measurements the medium seems to be a better choice, but If I were to go for the small, how much can I expect it to stretch and expand over a couple of months use?

I've also found that many different stores call the color by different names. What seems to be the same cardigan is sometimes named grey, sometimes black/charcoal, black melange or even ocean blue. Are these actually the very same color?

why is there so much hype for the sns herning stark? thinking about getting one but would like to get your reviews

Seems I'm late to the party, but I've read 100 pages of this thread and am curious what you guys would recommend size wise for me being 6' 167lbs with a 39in chest for the Stark? I was thinking one of the new cuts/fits in a medium but I want a blue one and am in the US so I'm having a difficult time finding it!  

I have the choice right now between a small or medium Navy (which I believe is the older fit - longer, wider) or a large in the new Triple Blue.  I like my stuff pretty fiitted...(I wear a medium in the Rogue Territory Workshirt and Naked and Famous Oxford  fyi)

Having looked at NeedSupply's 6'2 model in the Navy medium I feel it would be too big?  Is one of the old small's crazy for a guy my size?  Don't know if I can hold out for a medium in the new fit to become available without ordering from Europe!

For sizing reference, I am 6 ft, 175 lbs, 40 chest. I'm generally M in most stuff but sized up to an L. M would probably still fit in the chest with a bit of stretching but length wise would have been too short for my liking. Hope that helps

I know. I just measured my chest like 5 minutes prior to writing that post.
I might also have gotten a little bit misguided lately by all the EG shirts (workshirt / miner shirt) that I have in small that fits me perfectly. They are of a bigger fit though. A small of those are probably more of a medium actually. Especially this season.


A few pages back there was someone stating that the difference in fit between the new and old models are not reason enough to size up or down.
Hope that is of any help.

All these damn posts about fit changing on here have me struggling to pull the trigger on an order!  Just from looking at the NeedSupply model wearing both versions of the medium, the length and sleeves seem to be a good size longer on the older fit.  The old medium looks huge on the guy and he's 6'2!!! Anyone near my dimensions wearing an old small?  I think that or the new medium are the two that would fit me best....tho Adubz fit looks spot on in the large and we are about the same size.  I'd order a 'new' large right now but the 'new' medium looks to fit the 6'2 NeedSupply guy really well too?? WTF, I've spent a couple hours now pondering what to order to eliminate having to return it and need to order soon to stop thinking about it....please advise

Does anyone know of a good place to order/pre-order a medium in the triple blue?

Update: Just got off the phone with NeedSupply and the model is 150lbs...they should list that on the site, from the photos I woulda guessed he weighed about 175.  Based on my dimensions, the sales lady recommended I go with an 'old' small tho she didn't have the dimensions of the 'new' medium.  

 

Found some photos on Page 130 showing the 'old' small underneath a 'new' medium and they are almost identical in sizing with the 'old' small appearing to be a tad bigger....think the 'old' small may be the fit for me!

I tried both the medium and large in the new melange colors. At 6, 160 the large was the best fit.

cellin- If you want a slim fit Stark that is a little tight around your chest and shoulders then you are a S in the old style. Personally, I don't like the fitted look on these, but you can go back to the beginning of the thread and there are lots of photos of people getting them slim-fitting and liking it. I like a more laid back style in the Stark and if that's what you want, then I think a large in the new collection would work for you.

 

 

Thanks guys! Am I correct that the Navy one on NeedSupply is the 'old' fit right?? http://needsupply.com/mens/brands/s-n-s-herning/stark.html  The lady at NeedSupply just knows that its from the current FW12 collection

I'am 6 feet tall (~180cm), 75 kg (~165 lb)

Chest 37.5" and shoulder about 17". Fitted in a small gitman vintage oxford but a tad roomier in a medium.

Should i go for a medium in the stark considering stretch etc ?
